Wishes for a bright and blessed Easter

I found this little bunny cutie during a walk on Madison Avenue this afternoon. I'd originally planned to go to Macy's to see the spring flower show, but it was a dazzling spring day and the thought of pushing through crowds indoors was not appealing. Instead I hopped on the crosstown bus and enjoyed a walk on an uncrowded Madison Avenue and a slightly more crowded Fifth Avenue. The sun was shining, dogs were being walked and ice cream was being consumed. I call it a pretty perfect spring Saturday. I may get to Macy's in the next week and I may not, but I have no regrets if I don't make it. I'm grateful for every sunny spring day spend out of doors. 

My fervent wishes to all of Buttercupland that celebrates Easter for a day that is bright and blessed. Happy and healthy Easter wishes!

Sunday Is for Happy Easter

I'm going totally off script and taking this opportunity to wish everyone Easter greetings. The next post will get us back to the A to Z Challenge and discuss Passover. Butt for tonight I'm sharing my favorite picture of my Easter snaps. The pink sneakers on my new friend and on Moco and Mona, the pups, are perfect for Pink Saturday fun. 

I took Baby Yoda this afternoon for my annual visit to Fifth Avenue and the Easter Parade. Alas, there wasn't one fancy bonnet on display, but I enjoyed watching roller skating at the Rockefeller Center rink. I then walked over to St. Patrick's Cathedral and started chatting with these nice people. They kindly gave me permission to take a photograph and we've now become Instagram friends.

I'd be remiss to omit a photograph of Baby Yoda in his Easter head ware. He was a big help to the Easter Bunny this year, but happily still had energy to go out with me this afternoon. Alas, the Bunny, Pep Le Monkee and Nessie were too tired to go out after all of their work and spent the afternoon napping. It was a windy afternoon and I had a moment where I was afraid Baby Yoda would tumble into the water in back of him. 

I hope everyone had a very enjoyable Easter. My Passover celebrations were wonderful and so appreciated after the last few years.

Pink Saturday Goes Window Shopping

 

Pink Saturday wants to know: How much are the bunnies in the window?

I know I'm a little early for Easter, but during one of my walks in the last few days I noticed these fun Easter ornaments in one of the local store windows. I can't actually tell you the price of anything in the window, bunnies or otherwise, but I definitely needed to take photographs to share for Pink Saturday. It's been such a tough week -- and so much tougher for the people of Ukraine -- that I wanted to do something lighter and brighter.  I hope the bunnies and their pals bring you a smile.

I'd love to have this cute bunny join Pep and his group of friends,

 but I'm trying to do Low-Spending March. 

I'm not doing a No-Spending month, but I am going Low-Spending and really thinking about purchases. New York City has entered a new phase and starting Monday, there are changes in the different health rules that have been in place. Plays are opening in full force in the next while and there's a lot more going on. I'm planning to get back to the gym this week and more classes are being offered. I know that I will be going out more -- friends are visiting from out of town this week -- and I'll be spending more on experiences. I'm so pleased to see one friend I've only seen virtually in the last two years and we've got theater and concert tickets. That's a long explanation for being thoughtful in purchases, though I've found so many temptations all around.  What are your plans for the week ahead?

Pink Saturday Easter: Now and Then

The top picture is our "now" picture and this photograph is our "then" picture, that I'm sure I've used before in an Easter post. More often than not, I've ventured to Fifth Avenue to join the Easter Parade fun and see the fabulous hats. This is one of my favorite photographs from my Easter Parade memories and the perfect one for Pink Saturday.

I would be remiss to leave Pep Le Monkee out of the Easter greetings. Pep, Nessie, E. Bunny and Bongo had a fabulous time with their Easter deliveries and had a very successful season. They finished up late this morning on the U.S. West coast and somehow magically drove through the front door early this afternoon. I'll never quite understand how E. Bunny and now Pep and friends are able to get all the deliveries done, but happy for the magic that makes it possible. 

I didn't make it to the Easter Parade this afternoon, but no regrets. I had a wonderful Easter  lunch at a new restaurant in the neighborhood with Jane and Betsy. It wasn't the usual holiday fare, but it was delicious, and the restaurant is becoming one of my new favorite places. I liked it so well that I'll be writing about it in my "D" post tomorrow. I is for Iced Coffee (on Easter Afternoon)

The weather was perfect today for people and hat watching at Rockefeller Center. I enjoyed my favorite coffee drink, iced and light, while Pep LeMonkee and I enjoyed watching what will most likely be one of the last days of ice skating for this season.

 

This year's Easter décor at Rockefeller Center featured tree branches and hundreds of lilies. It was lovely, but I missed the bunnies of years gone by.

 

There were pretty hats and more eccentric hats and it was fascinating to watch. The Easter Parade, which isn't actually a parade, but an endless stream of people walking around the Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick's Cathedral area on Fifth Avenue.

I've been happy welcome bloggers who are participating in the A to Z Challenge. I'm falling behind, but will keep going until the end of April. I may not be fulfilling the letter of the Challenge, but I'm keeping with the spirit. I hope everyone is enjoying our adventures around the world. I'm also linking to my friends in Pink Saturday. For the last several weeks I haven't been able to link up and I'm not able to analyze the problem issue. I'm giving it another try this evening. 

 

It was a glorious Easter day in New York, but that was not the case everywhere. I want to offer my sympathy to those injured and the families of those killed in Sri Lanka. My heart is with all of you.

Easter Parade Pink Saturday

Easter was sunny and bright today and I had a wonderful time joining the Easter Parade. Just to be clear it's not really a parade, but a portion of Fifth Avenue is closed to traffic. It seemed that all of New York was out enjoying the day. I was not decked out, but I felt like I was in a minority. There were some very creative outfits and a fabulous array of hats. 

There were many Easter Bunnies in attendance, but this bunny was my favorite. I especially enjoyed the flower wreath that was entwined in the Bunny's ears. 

I liked the wide range of hat styles in this group. There was the classic bunny ears on the right and the Easter themed group in the center. I also liked the varied shades of pink in their clothes. 

 

Here we see the ever popular balloon bonnet, also in varied shades of pink.

 



There were many extremely creative hats. These hats are modeled on New York landmarks and the Empire State Building is on the right and the Chrysler Building on the left. 

This trio may be my favorite of the day. I enjoyed all of the bright colors and they made the most artistic photograph, with sunglasses and black coats.

 



Of course Easter isn't just bunnies, hats and candy. This is St. Patrick's Cathedral. This section of Fifth Avenue in front of the Cathedral was completely filled with people.  

 



The cornerstone for the Cathedral was placed in 1858 and it was opened in 1879. When the cornerstone was placed this was the northern edge of building in Manhattan.

 

I took a lot of pictures today, a lot! I plan to be back tomorrow with photographs of Rockefeller Center, which was beautifully decorated for the spring. I definitely need a return visit when the area is less crowded just to enjoy the flowers and decorations.

While I was taking pictures for "F" I noticed this bunny cutie and her beau in the next store and she stole my heart. I'm pretty fond of her bunny buddies, too.

Thankful in April...Easter

Wishes to all for a bright and blessed Easter!

Spending time with family and friends is among the most special moments of holidays. I spent a few minutes --  via Blog visiting -- with one of my favorite blog friends, Lura, this morning. Lura and her husband were in a car accident last month. Although Lura has been in the hospital for over a month, she is thankfully recovering. I know she would enjoy visitors and you would be able to visit with one of the sweetest citizens of Blogville. 

My wishes to all for a sweet day, with all the blessings of health and happiness! I know I am blessed with my sweet blog friends.
