I Fought My Cold...

...and my cold won.

Just a cold has turned into a bronchial infection and I'm on prescription nose spray and antibiotics. Yesterday I saw I was getting worse and went over to the walk-in clinic two blocks from my house. They couldn't have been quicker, pleasanter or more professional. I took the rest of yesterday very easy and devoted hours to watching a number of episodes of "Cake Boss."

I also contemplated the big issues of our time...What really happened at the Miss USA pageant, what will   Kim and Kanye name their baby girl, and does anyone really need a $2500. birthday cake?

Matinee Monday will appear next Monday and I'm posting an adventure I hoped to post last month, when I had the good fortune of meeting my blog buddy, Sharon, of Gains and Losses, and her charming husband, Bill.

 I think we're pretty cute!

I've probably met a dozen blog friends in the last four years I've been blogging and each time I come away delighted and a little surprised at how we manage to have such a good time and talk away the evening. Meeting Sharon and Bill was exactly that. In actuality we've never met in person, but we have spent years in touch via our blogs. We could have chatted for hours (days!) more and I left missing my buddies already. It was pouring that evening and we ditched the reservation I'd made and had a fun dinner in a Spanish restaurant next to their hotel. Sharon and Bill, thanks so much for arranging your schedule so that we could get together.

Take good care, blog buddies. I'm going back to contemplating the big issues of our day, after my afternoon nap!

The pleasure was all ours. We enjoyed every minute and can't wait to come back for a longer visit. In fact, just this morning we were chatting about the long 4th of July weekend and Bill said we ought to go back to NY. I think he was kidding, but you never know. I'm thinking maybe not such a good idea in July! But rest assured, we will be back. Take good care of yourself and get over that infection, but isn't it nice to be able to give in and not have to worry one moment about work issues?

A good rest will help with fighting that infection. Take good care!

That meal and conversation sound fabulous. After taking antibiotics you may need to rebuild your stomach bacteria; I found Siggi's yogurt has a lot of live cultures in it (from Whole Foods). Plus it is delicious.

Good for you for going on to the doctor when your cold turned worse. Isn't TV wonderful - - - you can pick and choose for whatever mood or energy you have. Since we have gotten DirecTV, it has been more fun to power-up the set because I know there will be something I want to see - - because I have recorded what I want and am not at the whim of network programming.
Hooray for fun with a blog buddy! It is a neat thing to get to meet them.

Sorry to hear that you are under the weather, but glad you got some meds.
I think we need to hear your answers to all of these issues you are contemplating.

I think the fact that fellow bloggers are drawn to meet you says a lot about what a warm, friendly person you are!

Take care of yourself, Buttercup!

You know that the menu of the Applewood is very common for our area. Great fun, nonetheless.:-)

Hi - I just stumbled across your blog from a comment of yours on a Catholic blog. Did you go to Mount Holyoke? I did too! It's nice to see a Mount Holyoke woman in the Catholic blogoshere. I am not a blogger at all, though I imagine that it is a lot of fun to blog. Anyway, I just thought I would say 'hi'. : ) I would have written a private email to you, but I couldn't quite figure out how to do it. my best, Lisa

Those horrible summer colds (or sinus infections for me), always seem to hang on longer than expected. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Hope you beginning to feel better! I avoid doctors as much as I can but I got hit hard with my last illness and thought it best to seek medical care. I went to a local walk-in clinic and really liked the visit. Would definitely go there again!

Nice blogging buddy visit :) Your retirement must be going well as you look fantastic in your photo!
