Never Too Late for Irish Coffee

My last Irish Coffee, Cuzco, Peru, February, 2016

I'm running a little bit late for the official celebration of Irish Coffee. National Irish Coffee Day was yesterday, but I don't think anyone will mind if we let the celebration continue for an extra day in Buttercupland. I don't order this fabulous combination of coffee, whiskey, liqueur and whipped cream, but I treated myself during my visit to Peru in 2016 and even six years later the memory is a great one. Is anyone else an Irish coffee fan?

As long as we're "visiting" Peru this morning, I'm going to share a few photographs of the fascinating setting for my Irish coffee, Cuzco, Peru. Cuzco was the capital of the Inca Empire (13th-16th Centuries) and the gateway to visits to Machu Picchu. It's a "two mile high" city, with an altitude of over 11,000 feet.

Cuzco from a distance, including buildings from the Colonial era.

The center of Cuzco

The countryside outside of Cuzco. I visited during the rainy season, but we had a beautiful day for sightseeing.

I've enjoyed this virtual visit and hope you have, too. We're going to be jetting -- or at least the virtual equivalent of jetting -- to Australia in the next post. Today is Australia Day and I'm happy to celebrate one of my favorite places.

As ever, thanks for visiting and in celebration of Irish coffee, enjoy a mid-day cup of coffee.

Well, I am Irish but haven't ever had an Irish coffee. I don't like the taste of alcohol in anything (crazy me, I know).
Lovely pictures and what fun you must have had on that trip. xo Diana

We went to Ireland in October and now I love Irish coffee. We've been making it quite often since then. I don't like whiskey or bourbon nor do I drink coffee, but I LOVE Irish coffee!

Sure looks an amazing coffee. I love the smell of coffee but not a fan of the bitter taste. Beautiful photos of Cuzco. It was one of the places I would have liked to visit but could never convince hubby to go there. So its nice to take a virtual tour with you.
Yeswe celebrated Australia Day quietly this year due to Covid. It will be interesting to see your take on my homeland.
