My Pink Saturday adventure, on Wednesday, and yes, the skies over Union Square were soon about to open up.
This was the calm before the storm last week and, if I'd taken photos yesterday, definitely the calm before Hurricane/Tropical Storm Henri. Henri is currently lashing Southern New England and I'm saying lots of prayers that the electrical outages I'm hearing about on the AccuWeather Channel are shorter than the predictions. As of the last time I looked out the window (3:00 p.m.) there's rain, but, thankfully, not much in the way of winds.
Nothing like sunflowers on a gloomy day!
I'm hoping to make the most of (mostly) being indoors today. When I saw there was little wind this morning I took a quick walk to my local bagel store and treated myself to an iced coffee and fresh cinnamon raisin bagel. I then made a list of things I wanted to get done and so far I've done three out of a dozen. I'm committed to finishing this blog post, visiting blog friends, doing a stretching/balance video and cleaning out at least one drawer. I'm hoping that by making my goals public, I will be accountable and actually accomplish all of the things listed. I will report back in the next few days. What are your plans for today?
Once again, I highly recommend a visit to Pink Saturday, for some fun on a rainy day. Despite all the internet pundits who proclaim the demise of blogs, I'm happy to report that blogging is still going strong and there is as much fun to be had as there ever was. I'm sad there are no in-person blog events to attend, but in the last few years I've continued to "meet" new blog buddies, and travel virtually all over the world.
As ever, thanks for visiting and stay dry and safe.

Blogging is definitely not dead. I have met some of the nicest people I know through blogging. We had a rainy weekend here too. I hope you stay safe and that NYC doesn't get hit too hard by Henri. I love the sunflowers. Have a good week!
Your Saturday sounds wonderful! Stay safe inside....
No storms here in Texas - just really really HOT!!!
I hope your luck holds out and you don't lose power. The news reports this morning wasn't looking good. I'm about to go to our farmers market today to get some fresh sweet corn, before the summer ends. It's so good and healthy for us too.
We really lucked out with ol' Henri, eh?! We didn't even have rain that much...and they were predicting a possible direct hit of the hurricane here in New Haven. Whew!
Our farmer's market here is such a joke - I enjoy you a nice fully 'stocked' one! Luckily, we have some terrific bakeries all the same.
Mmmm. Raisin bagel ... I love those. But, I'm always hard-pressed to bypass an onion and garlic one (my favorite!).
Enjoy your week ... and I hope you complete your list of things-to-do.
I've made some super nice friends through blogging. I'm going to be indoors, crocheting, waiting for the rest of the storm to come through. You have a super day, hugs, Edna B.
I read online news reports today that parts of NYC and NJ did get a bit inundated with rains from Henri. Luckily, we did not fare too badly here in Nashua, NH. Our Sunday was spent driving home from VT and our anniversary getaway and then going to the grocery store. Thankfully, the expected really severe weather bypassed us. Today is a catch up blog reading day to learn what others have been doing in my online absence.
My mother is gone now, but your "to do" list reminded me of a visit when I saw her "to do" list with every item checked off. I asked her secret to getting every single thing done. Her answer:
"I don't write it down until I've done it!"
I've been blogging since 2008 and have made some awesome friends through blogging.
I pray that blogging will live on for a long, long time.
Happy Wednesday!
Looks like a fun time at the Farmers Market. Stormy weather or heatwaves. It seems like it is one or the other. Wishing you well. :-)
Wonderful pictures. My favorite is the first one of the clouds over Union Square.
