It's Semi-Spending July

No-Spending June is completed and Semi-Spending July has arrived. I am happy to report that I bought nothing other than a greeting card at $4.95, which I posted about last month. There were two things that I put on my "to-buy" list for July and they both still remain there, a white t-shirt (or two) and a lip gloss. I'm hoping to use my birthday discounts for both.

My resolution for July is semi-spending. I can buy anything I want, but I have to think about it. I did make a purchase at Macy's a few days ago. I used ten dollars in Macy's cash that was expiring, a 50% discount and then another discount and got a pair of denim shorts for $3.00. Yes, three dollars. I expected the final amount would be about fifteen dollars -- and no complaint there -- but was shocked when the total was less than a cup of coffee.

My birthday gift from Savor Beauty Spa

One of my favorite local stores is Savor Beauty Spa and once in a very great while for a splurge I get a facial there. I also, as a result, got a lot of email from them, which I do find interesting. One of the emails contained news of my birthday gift which was a very nice lip balm -- featured in the footed vase on the left -- and I chose citrus. A generous discount on products is also offered. But I'm thinking about purchases, and have the entire month of July to decide whether to use it.

Is anyone else doing No-Spending/Low Spending/Semi-Spending?

It's been a nice long weekend and despite the heat I've been out and about. I've walked over fifteen miles, spent time with friends and gotten to the gym twice. I've also been reading and am just finishing the ninth book in Ann Cleeves' Vera Stanhope mystery series, The Darkest Evening, and enjoying it very much. I'm going to look for the tenth book and then eagerly await the newest one due in August,  The Dark Wives. What are you reading these hot days of summer?

As ever, thanks for visiting and keep cool!

Thanks for this update! That's a smoking deal on the denim shorts!
Would you believe, I've never had a facial. You're the second blogger to mention it, so I may have to indulge myself on the occasion of my personal anniversary.

Speaking of which ... Happy 'Day Before'!

Those denim shorts for three dollars was a steal of a deal.
I am finding out with the inflation and cost of things - I am only able to buy the things I need. LOL

We have been more conscientious about spending, too, - - - just because of inflation but also because we have had a few unexpected but "no choice" expenses. I love the great bargain you got on the clothes. I have a friend who shops like that all the time. She has some luck in the timing for sure.
I am reading some of Irene Hannon's books - - easy fiction and crime solving. I listen to them on my phone after checking them out from the local library and using the Libby app.
I recently finished 'The Magnificent Lives of Marjorie Post' by Allison Pataki. It was quite good and very informative how some of our food companies were formed - - and how Mar a Lago was created.
I won't say anymore about it other than it was interesting reading about the people who were so very rich at the beginning of the 1900s.
I started "The Accidental Empress' but was so upset about the way she was treated by her mother-in-law that I quit the book not quite halfway into it. I rarely ever do that. However it was depressing me especially when I researched and found out the poor girl's life really was not her own - - or even her own children.
Both being historical fiction, it was interesting to learn some things though. I am ready to read another good biography.

What a nice surprise to save all that $ on the shorts, Carol.and it was nice to get a birthday gift from the salon. I have had a facial but do go for a monthly therapeutic massage after a chiropractic appointment. I read the Vera Stanhope book you mentioned and thanks for the info about a new one due in August. I am currently reading Agatha Christie and recentky have read Freida McFadden and Nick Louth. The past few months, I’ve made some poor spending decisions, so the next couple of months will be limited spending ones.
