City Sidewalks, Busy Sidewalks

It's the Saks Fifth Avenue holiday look and
Rockefeller Center is in the background

My goal for the first few weeks of December was to be out and about taking pictures of holiday decorations every day. Yesterday and today were not days to be running around New York City, especially for someone who has big concerns about slipping and falling. Fortunately I took pictures a couple of weeks ago of the fashion windows at Saks Fifth Avenue. Saks is among the last of the big New York City Department stores and alas, there were easily a dozen more when I moved to New York in 1975. I'd look very out of place at any of my holiday events in these elegant gowns, but it's fun to window shop.

I'm especially pleased to have the hot dog cart captured in the reflection.

A yellow taxi joins the hot dog cart in this picture.

It's been a quiet day and the high points of the day were working on cards and reading the weekend New York Times.  One of my favorite ways to spend an afternoon is drinking coffee and doing the Sunday crossword puzzle. I also joined in Cyber Monday shopping. I renewed my AMC movie pass, which I'd been meaning to do for quite awhile and then took advantage of sale prices and bought THM low-carb baking blend. I also indulged in a new fleece shirt and a turtleneck from my friends at J.C. Penney's.  I don't buy a lot of new clothes, but I realized I've worn through a lot of my post-retirement casual clothes and need replacements. Of course, most of my wardrobe needs now are casual clothes.

The snow seems to have tapered off and I'm hoping to get to Yoga tomorrow and then some holiday decoration picture taking. What are your terrific Tuesday plans?

As ever, thanks for visiting and keep cozy.

Since I was not able to get to see any of the holiday windows yet I enjoyed looking at your photos of the Saks windows. We are lucky that we didn't get any snow. Yes, be careful walking the streets of the city.

Sacks always had the prettiest windows and you captured it beautifully. I, too, am sad with all the large stores closing. I wonder how much longer will Macy’s be around.

My hubs would love a hot dog from NY. He would probably eat one at every corner. In the first photo - did you see the shoes the lady had on with the blue dress laying down - i bet some do wear things like that. Keep the photos coming! sandie

What gorgeous ways you captured the light, color, and reflections! Window shopping was never this beautiful! I look forward to more of your pictures. Tomorrow we are hoping to go to a book fair.

Your photos capture the window displays in a fantastic and artistic way. I too did some online shopping for my family and myself for Christmas gifts, an easy way to shop. I also shop in brick and mortar local stores too.

We are snow covered and cold here this morning. Really just a light dusting that turned everything white, I am staying in and keeping warm today. Be careful out there, There will be slippery places. One of my friends says to walk like a qenquin so you don't fall.

I think your 3rd photo totally defines New York City!

What fun for me to see your wonderful store front windows! Incredible that you also captured the reflections of the buildings, taxi and hot dog cart. Do be careful when you are out and about. I hope you are enjoying a pleasant day. Dr. appts. for us today. It is cold but at least we have gorgeous blue sky!
