Thankfully, it's Random 5 Friday, one of my favorite parts of the week. And what a week!
1) A picture is worth a thousand words...or at least four. The magic words are six to eight weeks. I broke a major bone in my foot as a result of my fall on Monday and yes, black boot is the new chic. I'm sure I won't be asked to be part of Fashion Week, but I think the look has a certain je ne sais quois.
2) This solves my problem of when to switch from my beloved Croc flip flops back to sneakers. Today was blissfully cool and I wore a light sweater and this foot ensemble to my next medical adventure...
3) ...to the opthamologist. My eye felt funny yesterday -- I know that's not a clinical term -- and I was able to wangle an appointment to have it checked, just in the nick of time. I now have antibiotic drops for the next week and will be diligent in using artificial tears on a regular basis. Just one application of drops and my eye is feeling much, much better.
4) And, yes, I'm going to take it really easy. I think this is a sign from the heavens to read, blog, watch movies and sit quietly outside somewhere close to my building.
5) Am I the only person in America who has never watched "Breaking Bad?"
I'm stopping and smelling the roses this weekend. I will be back tomorrow for Pink Saturday, and yes, it's a flower theme, so you can join me in some quiet floral time. Until then, thanks for visiting and sweet, sweet dreams.

And i thought i was the only person who hadn't watched Breaking Bad! Lol. The premise just isn't my thing.
The boot is sort of chic i think. I like the look, and i'm glad you saw an opthamologist about your eye. I tend to take my eyes for granted sometimes. Not good, i know.
Good gawd. I dont think anyone has given you a nickname of "lucky" have they...right now, I wish you many healthy wishes... seriously.
and I raise my hand - i have not watched "breaking bad" either! But then i dont have a tv...is it on netflix yet? ;p
Oh dear. Get well soon. And I haven't seen Breaking Bad either but then again I'm not in America, so...
I do not watch breaking bad...can't get into some of the newer shows...they all think they are new..but it's old themes lots of times. Don't you hate the boot? Gee, I can't believe all you have gone through lately. Yes, I nice quiet week may be just what you need. xoxo,Susie
Ouch! on your foot!!!! I have been very lucky in that I have never broken a bone.
And your eye! Goodness.....keep those drops close by. I have severe dry eye so I know how refreshing those drops can be.
Thanks for visiting my blog and for your input .... I'm still on the fence. Do I change it up or keep it as is? Lord, the decisions!!! LOL
So glad you're taking care of yourself and will be taking it easy!
No, I don't watch Breaking Bad. (Or any other television show for that matter, lol.)
Whew! I thought I was the only one who's never seen Breaking Bad.
Good to know you were able to see the opthamologist so quickly ... that he helped arrange a quick fix. My left eye's been watering excessively this year for no obvious reason, but so far I keep putting off making an appointment.
PS - Cute tennis shoe! ...Imagine that's a part of your new purchases?
Hugs,
Myra
First your fall, then your eye! Hope that's the end of it Carol. Glad both situations are being handled well.
Breaking Bad? Nope. Not one episode.
Enjoy your relaxing weekend. :)
Oh darlin', I saw your sad photo on FB earlier. Your style for the new 6-8 weeks is definitely "je ne sais pas". You will have time to read, how fabulous. We watch Breaking Bad, it is horrifying and fascinating and rather brilliant. For an antidote we then watch one of our favorite British comedies.
The lady who sat next to me in service this morning had a special black shoe thingy on each foot . . .
Ya know??? I think they are some sort of miracle - because - Look!!! You're walking around . . right?
I have no idea what "Breaking Bad" is about - so - NOPE - you are not the only one.
Rapid Healing!
Love & Love,
-g-
Oh, dear! Well, at least you have your fashion dilemma solved.:-)
Smart of you to act quickly for medical attention for your eye. I send wishes for rapid healing there.
Also, I wish you quick healing with that foot.
No. I've not watched "Breaking Bad," so you are not the only one.
Sending wishes for a speedy recovery!
Never heard of Breaking Bad??? Sorry about your foot and eye. When it rains it pours.
So sorry about your foot and eye. Yes, I hope you will take time to heal. Hopefully, you are able to rest well. Take care.
BIG sympathy for that foot! Sometimes it takes an exceptional event to get us to slow down a little - sorry you had to slow down this way.
Breaking Bad? I've never heard of it.
that is some foot apparel and 6-8 weeks will give you tons of time for lazing about, reading etc-I was hoping your injury was going toward a sprain- and good that you caught your eye infection quickly...
Sorry to see that not only do you have to deal with the foot problem but now an eye problem too. I will be praying for a speedy recovery for you for both. On the bright side though, I see you are in a boot and that is a good thing. When I broke my foot years ago, I had a plaster cast for quite a while and couldn't walk on it but had to use crutches . That was really hard to deal with . It was quite sometime before I graduated to a boot and could walk on it. Take good care and rest and heal.
Wow! You are a wreck from head to toe! Poor thing!
Get better soon - I am so glad the drops are working. Those boots can throw you off kilter - make sure you schedule an appointment with a physical therapist when you are out of the boot to readjust your gait. I learned this the hard way. And if you can treat yourself to a massage, do so - with special attention to your hips.
And, I have never seen Breaking Bad, although I have heard it is really good. A drug dealing family man? It doesn't sound like my cup of tea.
I'm just reading this now, and I wanted to tell you how sorry I am about your broken foot. Also wanted to tell you to hang in there. I broke my foot earlier this year. It was the fifth metatarsal, mid-foot--called a Jones Fracture. My doctor told me first thing that it would take a long time to heal. I had to wear a boot for a while, but I was glad that I didn't have to stay in the boot until it was 100 percent healed.
I had never heard of "Breaking Bad" until reading this post!
I have had to use artificial tears for 29 years - - had an interesting change in my body after the second child was born. The viscosity of my tears is watery. Also, I use antibiotic ointment when allergy season hits. The tears I use are Thera-Tears and also Thera-Gel. At night, I put Systane eye ointment in my eyes. This combination has kept me from having infections and also headaches. Expensive - - but I have my sight!
