I am not a decorator by nature. I love to look at other people's beautiful rooms, but when I think about renovation and doing something fabulous I generally decide it's too expensive and not something that I could accomplish. But renovation -- especially my kitchen -- is more and more in my thoughts. I don't see a full renovation -- the cost staggers me -- but I am thinking of things I can do to spruce up my teeny kitchen at a reasonable cost. I am happy for any suggestions that my bloggy buddies have. I know there are some very talented and creative decorators in Buttercupland.
In the interim I am very happily looking at decorating sites and getting inspiration. I love the kitchen pictured above. It's not close to my kitchen. I don't have room for a chair, let alone a table and there is no wonderful big window over my sink, but I love the colors and the details.
I'm off to the grocery for something cool and yummy -- ice cream, anyone! -- and some sensible salad fixings, too. Hope everyone is having a cool and yummy evening, too!

HI!!
I LOVE THAT KITCHEN too!!
Painting over natural WOOD is very popular right now....will the trend last???Who knows...so if you paint say OAK cabinets....aqua.....can you re-paint or stain if you get tired of that???I say leave cabinets alone.....unless it is white or black as those colors are safe to say will always be in.....Paint the walls those colors.....I am considering painting an accent wall ROBIN EGG BLUE!!!!I love that color!!!!
Hugs,
jamie
and yes...Ice cream would be divine!!!
I would LOVE to renovate my kitchen too. The cabinets have cracks and holes and look awful. Plus I can not reach the second shelf. They are almost 60 years old. No matter what I do I can not make them look anything but old. You are so right about the cost being too high to have it professionally done. I hope you get some good ideas from the blog buddies. Ps. My internet is down, so I am using my phone to comment. Very difficult to do. So if u do not see me for a few days this is why. Take care.
Love looking at pictures from pinterest. A colorful life is better than a monochromatic one! Life is beautiful!
That is a really good looking kitchen! I have no window over my sink, but am able to look outside from across the room.
Ice cream would be really tasty on a summer's evening. Enjoy!
It is fun to look and Pinterest has a lot of good ideas. A few years ago I did get new flooring and counter top in my kitchen and what a difference it made. We painted the kitchen walls in a color much like the one there . Paint is one of the most inexpensive ways to make things look fresh and new. Hope you found something nice and cool to enjoy. I made a smoothie with some strawberries, black berries and a banana today. It's the first I ever made. Now I'll be making more. it was good.
I love this kitchen, too. We did a few less expensive fixes to our current kitchen. We painted our white (yellowed) cabinets a pale green and the walls a little darker green.
Since you don't have a window, maybe you could use a new light fixture or perhaps a lighted painting to bring some cheerfulness in.
Wishing you a very nice weekend.
I have a bowl of ice cream, please:) Love that bright and cheery kitchen! I am thinking about a kitchen RE-DO here at my home! We moved here 10 years ago and it still looks exactly the same! Have a blessed weekend, HUGS!
