More and Less

My first post of last year was entitled "Less." My hopes were for less worry, less clutter and less weight. In some ways I've been successful and in some ways, less successful. My best accomplishment has been in the area of weight. After some false starts I got serious about healthier eating and came very close to my goal of losing twenty pounds. Very close and I am quite pleased. I feel better and my knees ache less. My blood work is better and I am wearing clothes I haven't been able to wear in years. With two work friends I am continuing at Weight Watchers and had my best holiday eating season. My goal for 2011 is to lose twenty more pounds and I am very optimistic that I will do this.

I have had some success with clutter, especially in clearing cabinets and closets. These areas are under control and each month I do a quick inventory and prepare a bag of clothes or "things" for donation. The great remaining culprit is paper. I've done better with throwing out magazines and unneeded papers, but I am nowhere near where I want to be. Keeping up with this is still a goal for this year.

Worry...My least successful area. The work situation is still difficult and events of the year became more complicated, not less so, and I worried and fretted. If worry could be turned to energy I think I could have provided light for the entire city of Boston. Not enough for New York, but still enough to keep a good sized city in light for a long time. My only consolation is that I didn't turn to food to ease my anxieties, which is a positive change in behavior.

Last year I wanted less and this year I still do. But I also want more. I want more prayer and less worry. I want less weight and more vegetables and exercise. I want more time with friends and family, more time reading and at museums and more laughter. Definitely more laughter!

What are the things that you want more of in the year to come?

Congrats on the weight loss! Great job. I have many of the same goals as you. We are trying to downsize and have donated a lot to charities. We are trying to eat healthier and hope to lose some pounds. I need to focus more on prayer and less on worry. I wish you many blessings in the new year.

Nice post Buttercup. I hope that as the economy improves there will be less worry for you about your job. Congrats on your weight loss .. I think I also need to join weight watchers. I am also trying to loae weight, eat healthier, exercise more and be more grateful for all my blessings...oh and I should weed out a lot of my saved magazines! They come in faster than I can recycle them out.

I love this post.
Your goals are so realistic and doable. I have some goals that are quite similar. Decluttering, getting a healthier lifestyle both physically and spiritually, living frugally being top of the list.

I wish you the very best for 2011, less worry, less weight, happy travelling and joyful living.

Big Hugs my friend

Well done on the achievements Buttercup. If worry could be turned into energy I could run a marathon a month for sure. Pity we can't convert it?
This year I just want to tie up lose ends and then be free to do whatever I want (finances allowing). I will be spending more time with She so that is certainly a positive.
I also want to see my job safe but I only have limited control on that. We are not all powerful are we?
Warm hugs and hope to see you next year- sounds good doesn't it? xx

I do wish you success in the year ahead. More laughter in your life should also help with the less worry. Laughter is the best medicine they say. I hope your Friday is a fantastic one!

Congrats on the goals you've met and the bright spots in your life. I'm sorry about the job worry. I'm right there with you on that. I don't have words of wisdom but I wanted to let you know you're not alone, and we will both triumph over our job stresses. We can do it. One day at a time! =]

Great job on the weight loss and decluttering. Both are very difficult things to achieve. You do know if you have favorite things that are no longer of use -- - like T-shirts or knick-knacks, you can take a photo and then donate the item. I learned that trick from one of the TV shows. Great post. Thanks for sharing your praise report!
