Somehow the Week Ran Away

I had the best intentions to post all this week, but somehow the week ran away. The week at work wasn't too bad, but two issues seemed to soak up extra time. My dishwasher has washed its last dish and that precipitated some visits by my super. I can't complain at all about this. For the last few years I've been saying "When the dishwasher finally goes..." knowing that the day was coming and it arrived on February 2, 2010. I'll start thinking about a replacement when I have a better sense how much Issue #2 will cost. In the meantime, I'm going to be washing my dishes by hand.

Issue #2 is my on-going dental issue. I had to chuckle when I left the office today. One of my friends at work called after me "We'll start praying." My teeth have been the focus of much prayer over the years, for which I am very appreciative. After an emergency visit this afternoon I learned one of the implants I have is coming out. Not an emergency, but it needs to fixed very soon. I have an appointment on Monday afternoon with the oral surgeon. My dentist, who is so nice, assures me it's relatively minor and that this oral surgeon works only on implants and is very accustomed to these issues.

Happily, I won't have much time to ponder either of these issues this weekend. I'm spending the weekend in Providence with my cousins. It's supposed to be snowy, but we're New Englanders and I couldn't let a little -- I hope it's only a little -- snow stop a long planned visit to favorite family in a favorite city. Hope to be back with pictures next week.

Thanks, all, for the comments on "French White." I enjoyed seeing everyone's answers. The slippers I wrote about in December were on my "French White" list. I also bought what I call "The Cadillac of Bath Mats" in January. I replaced my very well worn bath mat with the fluffiest one imaginable and I love it. The price was quite modest, but it seemed more than one should spend on a bath mat. There is no logic here and I know it and I am so glad I "splurged" on this cozy gift to me.

 Wishes for a wonderful weekend!

Sorry about your tooth and dishwasher! I thought my dishwasher had died last week too, but we messed around with it, and it started working again. I would be so upset to have to wash dishes by hand again!

RIP Dishwasher 2-2-10. So funny.
Providence in the snow sound dreamy (to a Texan unaware of the reality.) Have a great visit.

Hope your dishwasher and tooth issues get fixed soon! Your post reminded me to turn my dishwasher on, thanks. On our weather channel here it looked like there would be a lot of snow up your way. Stay warm and I hope you have a great time!

I've been doing dishes by hand for several years now. It just didn't seem worth the price for just me here. I also like the extra space it's removal provided for more cupboard space. Glad you had a little splurge. Those little things are worth it for sure. Take care in the snow. It's predicted to be quite a snow storm.

Your poor teeth. Right now there is a prayer flag flying in West Texas with the words BUTTERCUPS TOOFS written on it.

My dishwasher has been extremely touchy lately, and I am already mourning its anticipated demise. I don't know if I can survive without it. Oh, the horror! :):) Sorry about your teeth. I think dental issues are the worst! It affects everything you do, it seems. I will be praying for you, too. Lots of love from West Virginia!

Can't imagine what its like to live in and around snow. I'm from Sacramento, California and I have to drive 1.5 hours to get to the snow. Do be careful driving.

It's funny you mention your bath mat. I just bought the fluffiest bath mat ever. It felt like a knitted/fluffy heavy duty towel. Don't know how else to explain it. And here I thought I was the only one who could be so pleased with such a purpose.

Do have a safe trip.

Hoping that your weekend is a great one. I have just seen news on TV showing snow in Washington so much !! it looks horrific...I know you are not going near there...at least I don't think so ! but never the less I hope if it gets to you it will have blown itself out !!
As for the dentist....well you have every sympathy from me. I have an absolute horror..no that's not a strong enough word..terror...of dentists fortunately I have strong teeth and don't need to go to see anyone !! (I'd rather go and have my other leg chopped off LOL)

I'm living in my first house with a dishwasher, and it took me months to get used to the fact that I didn't have to wash dishes by hand. I miss it a bit, but not when I have company over!
