Better Late Than February

Never too late for Frida Kahlo socks

I didn't do much shopping in Puerto Rico, but I was on the lookout for something packable, useful and fun. I saw a few things, but none of them seemed quite right until I came to the sock store in Old San Juan. There was a big inventory and I was having a tough time making a decision when I came upon a sock store.  Eureka! Socks are easy to pack (and mail), useful and could be fun.

There were literally hundreds of socks from which to choose. I kept looking, but then I found socks with a (sock version) of a self-portrait of the Mexican artist, Freida Kahlo and I knew I'd found my blogaversary giveaway. Her paintings are surreal, vivid and memorable. She spent much of her life in poor health and alone and she said her self-portraits were the result of spending so much time alone.

The format of this giveaway is to leave a comment on the blog with your favorite way of celebrating a birthday, since this is a blog birthday. That is totally all you have to do to enter. Please leave your comment by 11:59 P.M. on Sunday night. I'll announce the winner on Monday, February 6. Besides the socks, there will be a few other surprises for the winner.

Again, this is a very small token of affection and appreciation for your friendship and support over the years. Couldn't have done it without you.

As ever, thanks for visiting and thanks for being part of Buttercupland.

I love to hit my favorite city for my birthday. DC is close enough to home and still has enough that I haven’t explored so I don’t get bored. As an added bonus I can navigate their rail system with ease.

That is truly an interesting story about the artist! Again - - draw another name if mine comes up. I am abundantly blessed with socks already. You are sweet to create fun and love for your readers.

There's never a bad time for cute socks, is there? They're my latest fancy!
I'm happiest observing my birthday in a quiet fashion -- provided, of course, good food's at the ready. LOL!

So kind of you to do this giveaway. As to celebrating birthdays, for mine: a nice dinner and family.

My Favorite way to celebrate my birthday is to do it with family. They make it a true party! Not to put a damper on your give away, but do not include me in your drawing, I have enough socks and most of them are cute too. I wear socks all winter long to keep my feet warm and love wearing the cute and unique ones.

I spend my birthdays with my mom. She did the work that day, way back when - it was her "giving birth day" - I just showed up. Whatever she wants to do, we do!

Happy Blogaversary to you, Carol, and the timing is perfect as my 🎂 is this Friday so we are celebrating together this week 🎉. We will be playing dominoes with our Friday afternoon group at an area senior center and I plan to bring a cake to share with everyone. Later this month, we're going on a getaway within NH and will visit with friends from NJ so that will be a belated "gift."

Happy anniversary of your blog Carol! Your blog has brought many a smile to my face and education to my brain and heart!! ❤️❤️❤️. My favorite way to spend my birthday depends! Usually it’s with family and friends just being together. It’s really special when a dear friend makes me a keto cake.
Some years going on adventures. Some years quietly with family. It’s hard to pick a favorite way!! ❤️
