Pink Saturday Says Goodbye to Summer

All the joy of summer and the shore in one wide, wide photograph

Just like that it's good-bye to summer, flip flops, and shorts in just a few days. On Wednesday I was in shorts and flip-flops and not a bit chilly and today it's long pants, socks and sneakers. As I remember from many years past, almost invariably by October 1, it's time for jackets and 2022 is no exception.

But the sweet memories of summer will linger on long past this Pink Saturday post. There are too many memories to highlight, so I'm going to focus on one of my favorite parts of the summer, the beach. I'm a beach fan and I'm grateful to friends who shared their beach life with me. I had a few visits this summer and these are some of the memories.

When I saw this pink bike leaning across the equipment shed I knew it
would be making an appearance on Pink Saturday.

The birds and I pretty much had the beach to ourselves

If I rewrote "My Favorite Things" I'm pretty sure that 'Silver white winters' wouldn't be included and one of the lines might be replaced with "sand that stays on my toes and my feet." What would you add to the song to reflect your favorite things?

Bidding farewell to summer and to the Hebrew Year 5782. Autumn has already begun and 5783 begins in just a few hours at sunset. Here's to seasons of peace, happiness and good health for all of Buttercupland and the world.

As ever, thanks for visiting and see you in the new year.

Same here on the weather change. I'm so not ready. And like you, I'd be changing those lyrics too! Springs are great -- but not as great as sand on the toes!

Happy new year to you. Cooling off here in Utah too, and I am loving it! Have a good week. See you again soon!

I DO LOVE fall but I am having a hard time letting go of summer this year. It seemed so abbreviated to me. And, while I love fall, I am dreading the harsh winters here that follow.
Love your photos. I am a beach baby at heart. xo Diana

It was a hard end of summer this year. All the sudden it was fall and cold outside. I do love the beach. It's my favorite place to be, yet I never got there this year and now it's fall. It's colder wet and raining here, but right now the sun is shinning and looking out the window I can pretend it's still summer.

I really like that last pic with the birds and the blue of the water and sky! So pretty. There is such great clarity in the color of the sky in cooler weather. I do love autumn weather and colors. The beach is gorgeous anytime of year - - - even when it is fierce during storms - - - not that I want to be on the shore at that time but it is always compelling!

Hello! My daughter, Madison, shares your love of the beach. She would sit on the shore all day long. I enjoy a visit there myself, but I am an autumn girl here in Pennsylvania at heart! Have a cozy day!

As for myself, Carol, I was more than ready to welcome in cooler temps. The summer has gone on way too long in my opinion and it was overly warm in NH so welcome autumn!

Beautiful photos. My favorites are the top beach one and the pink bicycle.
The weather changed very abruptly here as well. The first day of fall dawned hot, muggy, and rainy, but by the end of the day it was sweats and hoody weather and it has stayed chilly ever since. A nice chilly though. I prefer it to the very hot summer days.
