I'm getting ready!
I think this may be the first year that I'm writing about all things December before Thanksgiving. I try to savor the autumn, Halloween and especially, Thanksgiving before I start posting Chanukah and Christmas. But a trip to the post office today changed my mind, at least for this year.
I mailed my first package today and bought these great stamps. Before anyone compliments me on being ahead of schedule, I'm not. Chanukah begins Sunday, November 28, and the package included both a book for Thanksgiving and Chanukah and I'd like it to get to Nashville before Thanksgiving. Of course if the book gets there after Thanksgiving or Chanukah, it won't matter to sweet Olivia, who's five months old. I've still got a few more Chanukah gifts to mail and my goal is another trip to the post office on Thursday.
I spent time yesterday organizing my cards and making a list of things I need to get done in the next five weeks. I will be checking it more than once, and adding to it any number of times. I've got a number of addresses for my Buttercupland friends, but I'm happy to add to my list. Darlene, I'm thinking of you. Thanks for your sweet notes, but please add a return address.
The decorations at Columbus Circle, 2021
After my post office visit I walked down the block to Columbus Circle to see the decorations. I like them most at night when it turns into a music and light show, but it's still pretty spectacular during the day. I'll be making a return visit later in the season to take night photographs and capture the lights.
Tomorrow is my watercolor painting class in the morning and since the weather forecast is clear and sunny, I'm hoping to walk and enjoy the last of the autumn leaves. What are your plans for Wednesday?
As ever, thanks for visiting and have a wonderful Wednesday.

I love that above photo of yours with the purple light fixtures. I have done nothing to prepare for Christmas yet, and Thanksgiving doesn't require prep for me, except for the family feast. I did order the smoked whole turkey from a local BBQ place. You are organized girl!
The Columbus Circle decorations are spectacular!! And I love the stamps, especially the otters. I
Hi, I love the decorations at Columbus Circle. I have my family photo Christmas cards, have written the family Christmas letter and hope to get most of the decorations up on Saturday. The past few years, I have enjoyed being Christmas festive at Thanksgiving. I still need to get some gifts, but very little to mail other than my cards, as I am hand delivering some gifts to family when I make an early December visit to see my birth mother and sisters. I used Amazon for other gifts to far flung family. I will be honest, I am having a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit, but will continue with preparations and hope that it will come. It's cool that you celebrate both Chanukah and Christmas. See you again soon.
Good Morning. I don't think you are an early bird at all. With the post office, UPS and others being short-handed these days it may take a month for a package to get anywhere. Just saying... you can never start too early.
I always get the grocery shopping done on Wednesdays. It's pretty day here too and the last we'll see for awhile so I'm going to enjoy being outside too.
Those decorations are beautiful. I'll be looking forward to the night time photos. Enjoy your day, hugs, Edna B.
I have my Christmas cards ready to mail after we return home from celebrating Thanksgiving in Buffalo. I had to get Christmas shopping done for all the family that resides there because we won't see them at Christmas. They will head south to GA. And like others said you can't count on USPS to deliver timely of late.
Have a nice Thanksgiving.
Wednesday has come and gone, but it included book club, so what's not to love? Well done on the mailing. I need to get the out of towners going. No Hanukkah for me, but early December birthdays and Christmas. I've heard the rate increase is really kicking in hard this year. We shall see.
The decorations are beautiful and I imagine that they are particularly spectacular at nighttime!
Have a lovely rest of your week.

It's never too early to start planning for the holidays, Carol. While I haven't sorted through my holiday cards (bought extras last year) I did get everything out of the closest this week. I plan to start sorting through and writing some right after Thanksgiving because of the possible postal delays this year. Most likely no packages will be mailed as we will be seeing some family members in Nov and Dec.
Love the decorations at Columbus Circle. I was very organized with my cards last year but haven’t even started yet. I need to get to the postal office and buy stamps. The ones you’ve shared are very nice. Enjoy your weekend and Happy Thanksgiving :)
