My Perfect Word for 2020: Vision

Vision Board supplies and inspiration

The decade past had a range of perfect words. There were the serious ones -- health, climb and give -- and less serious ones -- fun and bubbly. I was all set to go with "Organization" for my perfect word of 2020. But then I received an email from the JCC (Jewish Community Center) Manhattan. They were hosting their annual New Year's Day Health and Wellness Event and the schedule included a session on vision boarding. I signed up for vision boarding and for a session on healthy eating.

My vision board coach, Robin Mandel.

I wasn't sure what to expect for the vision board session. But our great coach, Robin, had an informative and inspirational program put together before we touched scissors and glue stick. There were fun exercises, journal tips and great ideas for getting going in the morning. With Robin's go-ahead I am sharing her card. Local friends, Robin teaches aquatics classes at the JCC and does coaching.

After a great preparation it was time for scissors and glue sticks. The process was simple, but the inspiration was big. Per Robin, I chose three goals for my vision board. Per my Weight Watchers discussions about goals, I kept them concrete and achievable.

 My Vision for 2020
My three goals:
1) Read 50 books in 2020. I've signed up for the
GoodReads Challenge  so that I can track my reading for the year.

2) Tackle clutter every day. Even if it's only discarding the day's mail and shredding,
it will help me work towards a clutter-free house.

3) Use coupons and grocery shop carefully. My goal is eat healthy and be thrifty.

I had a great time at the vision board session and kept working after the workshop was officially done. I was so engrossed that I missed the healthy eating program that I had also signed up for. A shout out to my tablemate, Martha. We were both very enthusiastic and had a great time working together and a shout out to the JCC Manhattan for offering this great day to the community. It was the perfect way to begin the new year.

What are your goals for 2020? Is anyone else a vision board fan?

Tomorrow I officially declare the end of the holiday season in Buttercupland. The snowmen and monkey friends will leave for their year-round home, a.k.a. the linen closet. I'm going to sort the bags of wrapping paper, ribbon and cards and make a list detailing the contents.

As ever, thanks for visiting. I hope January 1, 2020 was kind to you and wishes for a wonderful year.

I have never heard of a Vision Board, but what great idea! Where will you keep it, somewhere you can always see it? These goals look very practical and achievable, too.

What a good idea, I might try to create one myself.
I haven’t settled on my word for 2020, I really like
The idea of 2020 Vision...
I may use more than one word.
Maybe one per month?

Happy New Year my dear Carol.
Love from Ralph and myself 💕

I've never worked on a vision board before but I would love to make one. Sounds like an inspiring session and something fun to do too. I'm glad we are friends on Goodreads and cheer each other on to read more books! Happy New year!

I have never used a Vision Board. My goal is to graduate in May and then start working, something I haven't done I over 20 years. My 2020 Word is Stand Stalwart. smiles

I made one years ago - I don't think I did too well - but I don't remember!
Good luck - I bet you will do it.
I am going to be more positive!

You are only the 2nd person I've heard mention a Vision Board. Thanks for explaining it; now I'm going to be on the look-out for a like-kind seminar; even a webinar.

I like the idea of a Vision board. I did take a tablet and write out my goals, but I didn't stop there I sort of made a detailed action plan to go with it. Nah...that is probably to fancy sounding. I wrote out more than the goals but some steps to get started on them. I am determined to do better in some areas. Real determined. I might just need to make me a cute action board to put in my office and look at daily:)

I am not familiar with a Vision Board but it sounds like a good way to organize your plans for the New Year. I am trying to work on de-cluttering too and instead of putting things aside to read later, I am reading and then discarding. Also shopping only for needed items and using what's already in the freezer and pantry unless a menu item calls for something that's not on hand.

Your post was my first brush ever with vision boarding. Bravo and best wishes with your 2020 goals. You have inspired me to edit my rather vague goals.

I enjoyed my times her and your vision board. Have you heard of Cori the Reset Girl? She did a YouTube video today on decluttering. I tend to buy after Christmas sales for projects for my grandkids. I start the process in late February. Thanks for sharing!
