Cobble Hill's (Brooklyn) Bien Cuit

Bien Cuit -- this is going to be a tough one to beat!

When I started planning this month of blogging I enlisted the help of friends, and people came to my aid immediately. I knew Brownstone Brooklyn  had to be on my list of great coffee places and I also knew my friend, Anita, who has lived in Brooklyn for over thirty years, would be my consultant for this. I also love getting together with Anita, not that we need a reason to get together and drink coffee. Anita's suggestions was Bien Cuit, and, friends, I may not find anywhere I like better.

We met at Bien Cuit -- meaning well done or well cooked -- and made our way to the backyard. It was chilly, but so pleasant sitting in the sun, drinking excellent coffee and taking with a friend of fifty years. Just a subway ride away, but I can't imagine a much better morning.  I'm giving the coffee an A- and the ambience an A.

I made a resolution when I started this project that I would abstain from bread and pastry. I'm not as tempted by the pastries, which has surprised me, but the bread calls my name even in my sleep. If I break this rule, it will be during a return visit to Bien Cuit, and I will have no regrets. Doesn't this look fabulous!
I didn't buy this cookbook, but I think it's the perfect gift for friends who bake.

This is the neighborhood of Bien Cuit. The website for the bakery described the neighborhood as Boerum Hill, so technically I should have posted this as a "B." But  we're on to "C," so I hope you will pardon my geographic gaffe and enjoy it as "C," in  Blogging from A to Z.

So much coffee, so little time and so glad to be on this expedition.

I think this place was featured in an episode of " Barefoot Contessa". The bread looks so good! Like you, we're resisting the urge! Hope spring returns soon!

Oh my goodness. I sometimes think I am lucky to live in a smaller town in the suburbs. But all of your amazing coffee shops tells me I am wrong!!

What a charming neighborhood. It looks like a wonderful gathering nook. I think the ambience of a place is more important than anything else.

Creativity with letters is what this is all about isn't it? Seems this placve has set the 'taste' bar pretty high.

I'm not a coffee drinker, but your outing with a friend makes me want to find a coffee shop. Maybe you can drink the coffee and I'll eat the bread. :)

That looks fabulous, being a coffee lover, although I make my own creations. The bread too looks to die for. I shouldn't say that, I can't really bread, doesn't digest so well.

Awesome! What a fun A-Z. The bread looks beautiful! My daughter was a pastry chef/bread baker, so I appreciate the results like works of art.

So glad to have found your page through the reveal, and what a lovely post! That bread looks divine and the coffee as well. On my next outing into the city I will have to stop there for a latte! Paula @Lilly2412 From Random Musings and Wanderlust

The bread looks fabulous, so delicious, I'm sure, and I'm trying to avoid it as much as possible. We must be kin, because I've heard bread call my name in my sleep. :-) Have a fun rest of the week, Carol.

I'd have had a hard time resisting the bread too.
Just thinking of good coffee makes me very dissatisfied with my late afternoon de-caf!

I am thinking next time I am in NYC, I may have to take a side trip to Bein Cuit, the bread looks amazing.

The bread looks delicious and i can smell the richness of the coffee right off the screen.

When your ready for the Upper East Side, let me know. There are a few cafes that are not chains and have great coffee.
