Pink Saturday Mammogram Reminder

Real life has been getting in the way of blogging, but it's all good real life.  One of the real life events was my mammogram. I have to be honest. I skipped a time (or two) and I got a talking-to from my doctor in December. I knew I needed to get caught up and made an appointment for the first available date in January.

When I arrived on Thursday morning I filled out my forms with this bright pink pen. There were lots of pens available, but my eye went to my favorite color. I'm happy to say my test was fine and much less arduous than I remember. I'm just about caught up with my medical tests and I made a promise to myself not to let this one be so long overdue.  Usually my Pink Saturday posts are a lot more fun, but I think this is too important to forget. If you, too, are putting this off, please let this be a reminder to make your appointment on Monday.

What else in real life has been going on? I've been to the gym three times and checked in at Weight Watchers. My book club met on Wednesday and we had a great time catching up and chatting about "All the Light We Cannot See." I think it's my favorite book for 2014 and definitely worth reading. It's a great read and includes some of the most beautiful writing I've come across in a long time.

I'm inside on this snowy day, though there's a lot less snow than predicted. I'm catching up on computer time and enjoying coffee and the New York Times. It's cozy inside and I'm liking this quiet day very much.

As always thanks for visiting and take good care!

Glad to hear that all went well with your mammogram...I already have mine booked for 2015, don't miss a year since I have had 2 scares. Yes, that book was terrific. I read it last summer when it first came out and 2 of my bookclubs have it on the 2015 list.

I'll put that book on my list to read. It's been windy here so we stayed inside! Hugs, Diane

Glad to hear your test turned out positive. I go every year; dont like it but do go. I fear the negative. Hope your afternoon was good inside with your book.

Congrats on your great 'test' results!
Suppose they'll ever invent a cost-effective, pain-free device in our lifetime? I wonder if that's partly why some folks don't go regularly.

We're back in the high 70's this weekend; but it's so pretty I won't complain!

Glad your mammogram turned out fine!

I recently read "All The Light We Cannot See" and was so impressed (and touched) by it.

I'm scheduled for Tuesday....after a three year break. Sigh.
It is encouraging to hear that your results were perfect.

We have similar reading tastes so I will note the book title for future reference. We do have 100 print books in our TBR stacks. Glad your test result is good.

I've been spending a lot of cozy time indoors. Winter is my time to hibernate. Hope you have a blessed Sunday!

Oh the "M" word. Every September, just before my birthday, I get mine done. Why? Because every year they discover at least one lump and make a huge deal out of it. So sitting there with all of those people in various stages of having heard they might have breast cancer reminds me that getting older is a gift. The only problem is--the lump thing has become such an annual thing, I'm getting blase about it. "Oh yeah, it's a lump. I have a lot of those!" It's the only thing about menopause I'm going to like--they say the lumps go away after menopause. Of course, then I'll have all kinds of other things to worry about!

I am so glad all went well. I had a scare a few years ago and even though the test is a little uncomfortable, it is always worth going along. Have a safe and warm Sunday x

Glad you had your mammogram, and you're right, they're extremely important. I skipped getting one for three years, not sure why.. just didn't think of it, I guess. My doctor gave me quite a lecture in October, and I got one the very next week. All fine, but I need to be (much) more conscientious in the future!

I have heard so many good things about All the Light We Cannot See. Haven't yet read it, but now feel I really want to. Thank you for reminding me of it!

Quiet Sundays are wonderful. Enjoy!

Have the date on the calendar for this one! I don't skip a single year, even though insurance only covers every other year now that I'm this "magic" age.:-) Keep warm, and stay safe.

It is absolutely important to take care of health and often we leave that for later. I also started doing exercises and controlling power.

Good to hear you are following up on those mammos! I had mine on my 60th birthday last year! LOL! This year it was about a week later. All good news which I am very grateful for, Last year my ins. paid for the BRCA gene test regarding ovarian cancer and the chances of getting that awful disease! I was blessed.I had a full hysterectomy when Nick was 1 20 years ago. But I do not have that gene so grateful for my girls. Now if they would stop smoking I would be thrilled. My little one uses those electric cigs so it is better than the alternative! But our oldest Noelle is a chain smoker and she pooh poohs everyone trying to warn her! Rebekah is a nervous smoker. Hannah just went on this juicing kick with her "friend" Brett as he is training for these MMA coming up.
Stay warm and knwo I am praying for you and thinking beautiful calming weather thoughts! Hugs, Anne
