For the Bounty of the Earth Foodie Friday

It is a glorious Friday in New York City. It's warm, sunny, not a bit humid and just glorious. There is no other word to describe it. It's my first long summer weekend staying home and though I've got some nice things planned it's hard to shake the feeling that I should be at the beach. What fabulous beach weather...

I stopped by my local fruit and vegetable stand and was rewarded by the most glorious of summer bounty.

There was fabulous sweet corn from Long Island...

...Juicy, cold watermelon from Texas that looked so good.

One of my all-time favorites, concord grapes from Northern New York. These beauties have a short season, and I am thrilled when it comes around every year.

I've never seen these grapes before and they looked great. But the price put me off. I may succumb on another day, but for now I'm sticking with the concord grapes. Has anyone tried these grapes?

There were also new apples from Pennsylvania, just a little to the south. The New York season should really get going in the next few weeks and I'm going to wait until mid-September for apples. For now I'm going to enjoy the last of the summer produce. Though I love apples, I've got time for them in the next few months, when the Concord Grapes are only memories.

Thanks for all the good wishes on my medical tests. The test I had yesterday was not the one I thought I was having and I still need to schedule a cardiac stress test. The test I did have went well, but it gave me lots to think about, and those thoughts will be the subject of a post to come soon.

As ever thanks for visiting. Wishes to all for a sweet, wonderful Labor Day weekend. Enjoy!

I am never able to pass by a produce market without bringing something home with me! Fresh local corn would be the best!

What a great variety of fresh produce! It's another rainy day here, but I'm hoping to go to a Clydesdale show tomorrow if the weather improves.

All looks good! I've had some delicious corn on the cob this summer--probably more than I've had in a long time! And the tomatoes have been something special.

Don't trust the labels. There is no such place as Lanchester, Pa. It is Lancaster, Pa and it is a wonderful and beautiful growing area. It is near me and and most of the fruits, flowers and veggies that I buy come from there.

It is a bountiful time of year. I love all the fresh fruits and vegetables ! Too bad we only get them for such a short time. I've not seen any of those expensive grapes here and wouldn't buy them either at that price. Friday was wonderful here too. Today though is supposed to be in the 90's and that's too hot for me.

Nice market shots but I agree those grapes are pretty expensive.

We just came home from Sprouts! We buy lots of great fresh fruit and veggies there! Loving our Colorado peaches and corn ! We are having a huge phamily gathering later today so my hubby is whipping up our weeks lunch which includes potato and chorizo burritos with cheese and green chili and I am making Alfredo with real fresh cream and parmesean cheese, not for the dieting for sure! HaHaHa! I love your photos, everything looks so good! Blessings, Anne

We used to go up to Warwick, NY, every September to Masker's Farm to apple pick, Carol--good memories! I have to find a few apple arms around here to visit. Colorado peaches and corn have been my pleasant surprise this year --they have been wonderful!

I never heard of those expensive grapes. I like seedless red grapes the best.
