Downton Abbey Pink Saturday

One of the treats of reunion was a visit to the Costumes of Downton Abbey exhibit at Winterthur. It was actually one of the major inducements to attend the reunion. Ultimately seeing the real people I knew was the best part of the weekend, but I am delighted that I could spend time with some of my favorite fictional friends, too. Downton Abbey fans, I think you will enjoy the information on the link very much.

Because this is Pink Saturday I am going to begin with Rose's dress. which is rose colored and lovely. I am dispensing with the use of her title here in deference to the quote on the wall, "Don't call me m'lady. Call me Rose."

I was most taken with the evening clothes and definitely have the most pictures of the Crawley family dress up attire. I doubt if most people will mind.

I loved the detail on Lady Sibyl's harem pants.

No fashion show is complete without a wedding dress, and Lady Edith's was lovely. Sadly, there was no wedding ceremony that day.

I was remiss when I took this picture. I'm not sure if this is Lady Mary's dress or Lady Sybil's dress for Edith's wedding.

Downstairs and Upstairs costumes set together.

This is the building where we saw the exhibit. I know it's not part of the exhibit, but I can't resist sharing a lovely flowering tree on a sunny day.

After seeing the costumes it's been difficult not to do a little research and see what happens next season at Downton Abbey. So far, I've resisted and will make every effort to continue to simply wait for the surprises of next season, but it's not easy.

I want to clarify my decluttering notes from yesterday. All of my twenty five bags weren't clothes or kitchen things. It included bags of shredding and lots of old magazines. I've actually been quite good about getting rid of clothes I don't wear anymore, but the paper mountain is a bigger challenge. My goal for May is to clear out ten plastic grocery bags of paper. That will make me very happy. So far I'm halfway to one bag. Does anyone else have any projects for May?

As always, thanks for visiting. Take care and have a very pretty in pink Saturday.

I needed that paper reminder as I sit here next to a foot high stack of old yoga and gardening magazines, lol. Your photos of the costumes are lovely. How great that you got to see the exhibit. Enjoy your weekend ("What's a weekend?", my favorite Violet quote).

Oh i adore Downton Abbey! Thank you for the pics of the costumes. I love Rose's gown the best. Can't wait for next season, and i'm sure there are plenty of spoilers online, but i'm resisting. :) So far i've been more successful than when i try to resist chocolate!

Love, love, love those costumes!

Project for May? Lose two pounds and return to weighing in at Weight Watchers without paying!

I've been working on the paper clutter today. Amazing how it accumulates.

Hello Buttercup!
I would love to see that exhibit! I can wait for DA to begin because when it does it will be winter! After this one, I want to enjoy every day of the seasons in between! I do check every now and then to see if there are any tidbits on the net about the upcoming season, the last! :(
Hope all is well with you!

What a fabulous exhibit, the dresses are works of art, and the men's attire too.

What a treat to see those costumes. I love the show and will watch it again when it returns . I too have lots of paper that needs to go. I may just join you on that one. If I got rid of just 10 bags it would make a difference !

Dear Carol, I did a lot of decluttering of paper and manuscripts in March, but in May I plan to do something different also. I'm going to start the 20-day eating 'PLan" to discover which foods my body reacts to negatively. I'm hoping that the discovery will bring greater health to my body as well as less weight. Peace.

I am SO Glad to know I'm not the only one taking pictures of houses with beautiful trees in front - simply because its there!!!

Yeppers, mounds of stuff - an ongoing effort to de-clutter my space - REALLY, you have no idea how comforting it is to know we are doing these things together.

And, I have signed up for a couple of classes - since the school term has ended - (so, this teacher has three months to "up her game" - I'll be a student again - for a while . . color me happy.)
