West Village Sunlit Sunday

I actually took these pictures on a sunlit Thursday last and I so enjoyed the excursion to the West Village -- Greenwich Village on the west side of Manhattan -- one of my favorite parts of the city. I only took a few pictures -- still too cold to snap many pictures without gloves -- but they bring sunshine to me and I hope to you, too.

This is the view on Bleecker street looking east.

Yes, it's a Buttercup selfie. There are a lot of individual (as opposed to chain stores) in the neighborhood, which makes for lively window-shopping. This cafe could have been on any Parisian street. I didn't stop here on Thursday, but I am planning to make a visit at another time.

Only a long planned appointment for a facial got me outside and downtown on this cold day. Was it worth it? Absolutely yes! I have decided that this is my all-time favorite indulgence and I'm going to be on the lookout for discount coupons for this treat. Do you have a favorite indulgence?

Please stop by and visit my friends at Sunlit Sunday. This is my second week joining this fun group and I've met great bloggers.

I'm zipping off for...it's Sunday night it must be time for "Downton Abbey." Thanks so much for visiting and have a great week!

Hello Carol, What nice sunlit photos you found on your outing. If I was to schedule anything for an indulgence it would probably be a massage...

A facial does sound like a lovely treat for yourself and I can understand how that would provide the necessary motivation to head downtown.

Thank you for finding the sunny side of big city life and posting about it. I'm glad that your experience with Sunlit Sunday last week was a good one and am pleased that you have returned.

Thanks for taking me to the village with you. I've been down for the 3 days since my surgery and I was anxious to get out and around.

Have a great week. Hugs, Lura

I've only ever had a facial once, and I remember it being a lovely treat. It is a good way to pamper yourself a little.

Dear Carol, I've visited New York only once and that was way back in 1957 when I was in college. I so appreciate learning about the city from you and your photographs. And of course, deep down I have a dream that one day I'll fly there to visit with "my" agent and an editor who wants to publish some book I've written!

Of course, I have no agent as yet, but I continue to hope and also to send out those necessary queries about my writing.

As to "Downton Abbey," I find myself somewhat disappointed this year in the first two episodes:
#1 I find it hard to believe that Lady Cora and her husband would doubt Anna and believe that new scheming Lady's Maid (Episode 1).

#2 I find myself annoyed that the son-in-law who married Sybil is finding the scheming maid interesting and responding to her. Mrs. Hughes spoke to him about that in the last episode of Season 3. He's a bright man--an inventive and creative man--so I find it hard to believe that he'd fall for the schemer's blandishments again.

Peace.

Greenwich Village is one of THOSE places I'd of loved to have lived-sweet, the café Angelique :-), I love total body massages, though I don't indulge in them so often any more.

A facial sounds sooo nice right now!

What a nice break in the weather even if it was still quite cold. I love when we can find stores that area individually owned - - - so much more character in the atmosphere and pride in running it. Favorite indulgence - - - I like eating out - - having someone else cook and clean up the meal.

I enjoyed visiting NY through your camera lens. What a neat place it is! I've visited a couple of times and really loved it. Facials: love them too. Also like pedicures, massages, and acupuncture. :)

Love the photos and the café looks so inviting! I've never had a facial. I do love a neck massage...my neck stays so stiff with arthritis!

Love me some Downton Abbey but so don't know if I like what is happening to Anna and Mr. Banks.

My greatest indulgence is getting a pedicure.

Happy a warm Thursday!
