Double Digits to Halloween...

...And bliss right now!

A couple of days ago a friend posted on Facebook that the countdown to Halloween 2019 had entered the double digits. It really stuck with me. Not that I haven't thought about activities in the fall (and beyond), but the autumn celebrations are somewhere "out there" and I'm holding to my determination to "savor the now."

I've written before about being present to enjoy the gifts of each season, and as each birthday passes, I am struck by the passage of time. The years which seemed infinite not so long ago, certainly do not now, and I want to enjoy each season as it happens.

I spent the Fourth of July weekend in Pennsylvania and discovered the Allentown (PA) Farmers Market. There is fabulous produce in every corner, but my favorite was Red Barn Produce. The people working there are super helpful and happily spent time explaining how to discern a good-for-eating cantaloupe, watermelon or peach.

Veggies as far as the eye can see!
I came away with jalapenos and a candy onion. The candy onion is new to me, and so intriguing.

It was so difficult to choose and not buy one of everything.

Yes, it's hot and I'm probably running the air conditioner more than my electric bill and the environment warrant, but my innate cooling system isn't quite as good as it used to be. But despite the heat I want to find every good moment in this summer that I can find. It's zipping by and in a blink I'll be seeing Halloween candy and pumpkins in stores. In another blink I will hear Jingle Bells in the background in a store. But before those blinks I will be savoring the now. Time for a tree-ripened peach!

Today was an errand day and dinner at a Cambodian restaurant with a friend. The restaurant was new to me and so delicious. One of my plans for tomorrow is to look up Cambodian recipes and figure out the seasonings, so I can do something interesting with my crisper of vegetables. What are your plans?

As ever, thanks for visiting and keep cool!

I am with YOU! Time is rushing by faster and faster! Enjoying NOW is what it's all about, especially a lovely summer. What is a candy onion? I have never heard of them. All of this produce looks so fresh and beautiful.

You are so right, Carol. Life goes fast enough without rushing the months instead of savoring the moments. I love going to Farmer’s Markets in our surrounding towns and they make them fun events with music and entertainment. Despite the heat, summer is to be enjoyed.

My air conditioner is humming a little too much as well and the power bill will certainly show it. Yes I enjoy the Season I am in. Sometimes while doing that, the next season sneaks up on me. Have a blessed Sunday dear friend. Hugs.

Our AC and fans run all the time but it hasn't been too bad this month. I love the variety of veggies there! WOW!

Okay I love winter and I don't like 99 days to summer. It is HOTATLANTA right now. So I am looking forward to it! I like Halloween - not for the scary things - I just love the colors and fun. Like that Farmer's Market - was that a yellow watermelon? It looked like so much fun girl.

Love, sandie

The colors in your photos are AMAZING, Carol! I'm new to visiting Farmers Markets, but doing my best to make up for lost time.
Great reminder to savor the NOW!

I'll be enjoying the air conditioning this week, too! Going to be hot and humid!

I love fall but first up is peach season and they are my favorite! Going to enjoy it to the fullest and then Autumn will be upon us!

What a beautiful bounty at that Farmer's Market...wow!
I would have to exercise a great deal of self-control in order to not buy up one of everything ~smile.

I adore Fall!
However, like you, I am enjoying each season in its own right.
Sure like the thought that Halloween is 'eeking' closer though!

Smiles :)

Hi, I meandered over from Plain Jane's Yakety Yak blog ... we were at Cracker Barrel for lunch on Sunday and lo and behold, it's all Halloween up in there. In JULY that stupid broom walks towards you, casting a spell or something or other. Glowing skulls and muahhhhhahahaha coming at you from something that wakes up as you approach. It's just too much. I think I'l overdose on watermelon to compensate. xoxo
