Today is Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday. It's the day before Lent starts and traditionally fasting begins, and the day to eat richer foods. It's also the day for carnivals and parades around the world. It would be fun to be in New Orleans today for the parades and the warmer weather. Since that isn't possible we'll take a blog trip there. I had a wonderful visit to Mardi Gras World when I was in New Orleans in November and have the pictures for memories today.
This way for Mardi Gras fun!
Dorothy and friends prepare to ride a float.
It was fascinating to see where the floats were constructed.
One of the great parade costumes
Alas, a lot less fun for me today. I'm off to work on my taxes. Not my most favorite thing, but I will be happy when they're off and mailed. Hope your day has some fun in it.
As always, thanks for visiting and let the good times roll!

Wouldn't it be great fun to be in New Orleans during Mardi Gras season?
I understand the Mardi Gras decorations are put in place just after Epiphany, as Christmas decorations come down, and King Cakes are in abundance during the weeks prior to Lent.
What great photos you got...love the colors! Hope your day goes well. Sounds like what we need to do today, too! Hugs!
AH yes, Mardi Gras..I was not quite 20 when I went..Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez. Thanks for the smiles. Blessings
HAPPY Mardi Gras. I'll be celebrating.
Hope getting your taxes done was a relatively painless process; and won't it be great to have it out of the way for a year?
Love the colourful photos and blue sky!
I enjoyed your colorful and fun photos, Carol.
Great photos Carol -- we took our taxes in this week and will see our tax guy on Sunday to determine the bottom line. Hope yours turned out in your favor! xo
I was blessed to be able to live in New Orleans for about 4 years in the '80's. My kids were teens then --and we all enjoyed Mardi Gras each year. SO much fun!!!!
Then, we always had Pancakes for supper on this Tuesday (Shrove Tuesday--or Fat Tuesday) BEFORE giving up all of that fattening stuff for Lent....
Great Memories.
Hugs,
Betsy
It would be wonderful to actually see a Mardi Gras Parade. Happy Pancake Day!
Buttercup, I think once we retire we should not have to pay taxes.LOL...So much paperwork after retiring, I feel I need a secretary to help me at times. I have never gone to New Orleans, thought about it a few times...now I know I never will. may thing I'd rather do. Hope you get a return on your taxes. xoxo,Susie
Thanks for sharing such fun pictures with us!
Mardi-Gras sounds like a really fun time. Loved your photos. Such colorful costumes and floats. Taxes...not so much fun but we send ours out so no headache here doing them ourselves.
