Mardi Gras World Pink Saturday

Pink flamingo time!

This was my fifth trip to New Orleans and I thought I'd pretty much seen most of the city. But like so many other assumptions I was wrong, and this aging dog learned a few new lessons. One place I'd never gone was Mardi Gras World. It is a warehouse and workshop for the Mardi Gras floats and decorations and definitely one of the high points of my visit. I was also very excited to find pink decorations. I've been scouting avidly for them.

Marilyn Monroe, pretty in pink, meets Elvis and Spiderman

We toured the warehouse and the workshop and watched a fascinating video about the history of Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras World also does work for many special events and amusement properties around the world. I was awed by the range of decorations.

This cute fellow isn't pink, but he is a favorite of mine. I couldn't leave him out.

Go, Jiminy Cricket!

Just a week ago I was in the sun and warmth of a summer's day in New Orleans and today it's a gloomy autumn afternoon. We've had rain, which we needed desperately, but thankfully no high winds. Prayers for those in the midwest. I hope my blog buddies, families and communities are safe.

As ever, thanks for visiting and sharing the fun of Pink Saturday. Have a great week!

Marilyn is pretty in her pink but I am like you Jiminy is the cutest ever! Storms are in the forecast here too. Some could be rough. Have a great Sunday. Blessings!

Stay safe and dry as those crazed winds head past the midwest and toward you, probably tapering off.
Hey, I think Marilyn should have dated Elvis, just sayin'. Your photo gave me that silly idea.

Marilyn, Elvis, and Spider-Man, what an interesting grouping.

I always wanted to visit New Orleans, but so far, have not gotten there. It sounds like you had a good time.

I'd of loved to have seen this place-great shots. Outside my window is a great thick sheet of icy rain, but it is only rain and am very thankful for this...

Mardi Gras is such a big thing in New Orleans that I'd think that warehouse would be something to see. Glad you got a break away there. We had a bad storm last night and I've not been out yet to see if there was any shingles missing from the roof. The wind was very powerful and I was glad when I woke up and it'd quieted down this morning. Hope you have a wonderful Monday!

How fascinating Carol! My ex employers came from Mobile, which is the home of the first Mardis Gras or so we were told. It was really a big thing for them.
