Dear Shoebootie, I Love You

Here I am waiting for the bus after my appointment today with my orthopedist. Cute socks, one sneaker and yes, one shoebootie. I was highly optimistic that I would be wearing two sneakers when I waited for the bus home and I had my sneaker in a plastic bag in my tote bag. My orthopedist is pleased with my progress, but I have at least two more weeks wearing my shoebootie.

I have decided to have a different attitude and love my shoebootie. I am going to look at it as an instrument of healing and not one of torture. No more sighing, no more complaints and no more longing for two shoes that match. I can't change my physical reality, but I can change my attitude. I do want my healing to be as complete as possible, and my orthopedist spoke these sobering words, "You'd hate to lose any of the progress you've made..." I would indeed, and I am thankful for my friend, shoebootie.

It was a glorious day in New York City today and I loved wearing a wool blazer in November. No heavy coat, no gloves, no scarf! It felt so sweet and summery that I treated myself to the perfect summer snack frozen yogurt. I did go with autumn flavors, pumpkin and Oktoberfest stout. I'm not sure what Oktoberfest stout actually tastes like, but it's yogurt counterpart was yummy. Not to race the season along I am eager for the Christmas flavors. I'm dreaming of gingerbread and eggnog frozen yogurt.

As always, dear blog buddies, thanks for visiting and take good care of yourselves.

Ah, well. Two more weeks isn't so bad. That will be before Thanksgiving.:) I agree. You really don't want to rush the process, regardless of how much you are wanting to wear shoes that match.

It sounds like a wonderful day in NY. Enjoy!

I love your attitude about the shoe bootie. I know how you feel. I went through the same thing this year. Finally in October the doctor told me I could wear anything I wanted, just so it didn't hurt. I still find myself being careful with the foot. Don't want to go through THAT again!

Ooh, I love eggnog frozen yogurt!

Carol what a sweetie you are to love your shoebootie. That's the way to look at it, to embrace it as helping your tootsie heal.

Buttercup, You could do a nice tutorial of glamorizing your shoebootie...glue some rhinstones on it, glitter it up. LOL . Just teasing. you are wise not to undo all the repair that has taken place. That would be heart breaking. I love the days that was can wear a jacket , or sweater, or blazer. I hate getting to big coats and such out. Blessings dear friend. xoxo,Susie

Oooo, I like Susie's idea!
Doll that shoebootie up!
Sometimes we just have to embrace the facts and go on.

Take care and keep up the good work!

I still remember my bootie. It looked lovely with the cast on the other leg. Glad to see you are looking on the bright side. So, I nominated you for the Sweet Blogging Award.

Carol I feel you! I had surgery a few years back on my feet.. The shoebootie was my friend for many weeks..lol....I had to wear that thing so long I thought I would never see a regular shoe on my feet again...I was so happy to wear shoes... the surgery corrected so much of the pain that I was having the shoebootie was worth it.. hang in there! Blessings!

Attitude is everything. When you finally say good bye to that bootie of yours it will feel strange wearing your other shoe for sure. Enjoy your nice weather while it lasts. Looks like another cold and gloomy day outside here. I'll be making my own sunshine today! Hope you have a fantastic Friday!

What a great way of reframing a challenging situation!

Two weeks will zoom by and you'll be saying "buh-bye" to that shoebootie before you can ... well ... shake a leg!

A shoebootie is a lot better than a heavy plaster cast. Count your blessings, gal!

If you say it fast with a french accent Shoebootie - sounds like an exotic cocktail. Good for you for embracing your latest phase to recovery!
I hope you both have a wonderful week!
