I had this post written to coincide with the coming of autumn. I had written a post about how nice it was to switch back to hot coffee and how much fun I would have with Coffee-Mate Girl Scout flavors. But autumn is a little late arriving this year and we are still experiencing the best late summer weather imaginable, and I am having lots of fun with Girl Scout flavors in my iced coffee.
There are many items I really like, but two that come to mind immediately are coffee and Girl Scout cookies. I've written about my love for coffee many times, but I don't think I've rhapsodized about my affection for Girl Scout cookies. I was a brownie and a Girl Scout and spent summers at Girl Scout camp. We were a scouting family and my mother was our leader, active in the local council and stayed in scouting even after I had gone on to college. She took charge of the cookie sales for our troop and our living room was the staging area for cookie deliveries for years. I sold hundreds of boxes -- in the days when going door to door was the norm -- and probably ate thousands of boxes of cookies. I even sold cookies for my friend's daughter, now in college, at my job and was a great cookie salesperson. I loved Thin Mints and Samoas were a close runner-up.
I was delighted to discover at BlogHer '13 that Coffee-Mate had Girl Scout cookie flavors, more delighted to find that they were my old friends, Thin Mints and Caramel and Coconut, and even more delighted when I was asked to sample them at home. They are both delicious and I felt I had the best of two favorites, coffee and Girl Scout cookies. It was a real treat and and a fun way to cool off during some of the hottest days this summer, and it will be a fun way to keep warm this winter. I found, even after all of the decades that have passed, Thin Mints is still my favorite, just by a nose. The classic chocolate and mint is hard to beat, but Caramel and Coconut is giving it a run for its money.
I think I need a cup of coffee and this time with a splash of Caramel and Coconut. Are you a Girl Scout cookie fan and were you a cookie salesperson?
Another glorious day in New York City. I've been out for my morning walk and after some errands at home will be off to the post office. I've had a busy social life this week -- stay tuned for pictures tomorrow in Random 5 Friday -- and it's time to catch up at home.
As ever, thanks for visiting and take very good care of yourself!
Please note: I was given Coffee-Mate Girl Scout flavors to sample for this post, but the opinions are all mine.

Oh yeah, Thin Mints and Somoas - the best damn cookies ever made in the whole universe, maybe all the universes, even possibly beyond to galaxies far, far, away.
God bless the Girl Scouts and their cookies.
Enjoy your coffee.
M :)
I have learned something. I didn't know that Coffee Mate had GS flavored products! Of course, I take my coffee black, so I'm not usually on the hunt for Coffee Mate.
Yes, I was a GS leader for a number of years - about 10, I think. We sold our share of cookies, 'tis true, and probably consumed many more than we needed.:-)
Enjoy that coffee! And - the nice late summer weather you are having!
Thin Mints and Samoas are my favorite cookies of all time. I was a girl scout too.
I'm going to have to break my "black only" discipline and try these!
Yes, I've so many fond memories of scouting ... both in Brownies and Girl Scouts. Unfortunately, that didn't extend to successful cookie sales.
PS - My mother was our troop leader, as well!
Yum, the caramel and coconut especially sounds good.
I'm a big fan of Girl Scout cookies. I was never a Girl Scout, but I try to buy at least a couple of boxes when they're selling in our area.
We're still having warm weather here, too. I'll be glad when a hot cup of coffee will be needed to warm me up! :-)
I was a girl scout and so was my daughter. We have a big love of girl scout cookies here in my family too. I didn't know about the creamers they now offer. I drink my coffee black without cream or sugar, but they do sound very good.
Psst....popping in to ask if it was a hot chocolate that I was planning to send you? I nearly forgot! Uggghh....to many things to remember. I need to make a list.
Buttercup....I like the thin mints. Iced coffes are nice for summer...but hot coffee with all the flavorful creamers is autumn to me girl. Enjoy this wonderful weather. xoxo,Susie
OH MY goodness... SAMOAS are my fave! Enjoy your day sweet friend, HUGS!
I would love both of those Girl Scout Cookie flavors I'm sure...
I am one who loves my coffee--but do 'doctor' it up.. Hubby says that I don't really like 'real' coffee... I say: "Oh Well"... I love mine with Coffee-Mate Sugar-Free French Vanilla in it... YUM...
Hugs,
Betsy
I love Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. i prefer real milk in my coffee and not Coffee-Mate.
I hated selling GS cookies. Hated it. I could barely stand to say hello to people. I was so shy so selling was awful for me. I still can't do it. But I am seeing you in a new light as a primo cookie salesperson.
