To Polish or Not to Polish Pink (and Blue) Saturday

We've had some really serious posts this week. I feel very grateful that I've been able to share some of the deepest thoughts of my heart -- forgiveness, atonement, national tragedy. I do believe that friends that matter talk about things that matter. But friends that matter also laugh and share silly and fun times. For this Pink Saturday let's talk manicures and pedicures. For or against?

I love pedicures, but am only so-so on manicures. I know that sometimes my hands look less neat than they could -- oh those pesky cuticles! -- but I do keep up my toes. This summer I wore blue nail polish which was slightly more lurid than the color shown above. It was a lot of fun and I think every friend I saw commented on how blue my toes were. My toes are now a sensible "Parisian Pink" or maybe it's "Ballet Slipper," and they have just a hint of pink. My finger nails are unpolished right now, but at most they are done in "Parisian Pink." I did go wild two summers ago and let Jess and her cousin Katherine talk me into a French manicure for her brother's wedding, but I haven't had any temptation to do it again.

I think I could go on for several paragraphs about the joy of the pedicure. I carefully select the color, my reading material -- usually something on the line of "People" -- have an iced coffee with me and then completely relax. I feel like I've had a vacation by just crossing the street.  Bliss!

As ever, I appreciate the visitors to Buttercupland. You were all -- especially the requests you made -- in my prayers for the last few days. Thanks for visiting and have a spectacular Sunday.

Thank you for your fun, girly post. I am trying to type this without looking at my fingers which are in dire need of an manicure - now pink or blue, decisions, decisions!!

pedicures I love 'em and I try from time to time to do my nails or have them done but my fingers love dirt, plaster, sand paper too much ;-) so this is a lost endeavour.

I've never had a manicure/pedicure. I do love all the new fun colors of polish. I gave my 30 something niece some lovely lavender polish this summer for her birthday.

You are so right in saying that sometimes we just need to think about some frivolous things.Other than the ones I give myself, I've never had a manicure or pedicure. It;s a rare thing these days for me to polish my nails. Still once in a while it is nice. Hope you have a wonderful Sunday!

Fun share!
...'Course, while reading I had to pause and shake my head at the sorry state of my cuticles.

Pedicures? I only discovered those pleasures a couple years ago ... but haven't been brave enough to do anything but the French tip.
Manis? After 3 decades wearing acrylics, I quit cold turkey some months ago, and haven't regretted it for a minute!

Have a wonderful day!

Ooooo, let's see those blue toes!
I enjoy getting manicures but only get them when not in school. Our paper towels do a number on frshly painted nails. No pedicures for me.

Me too - I love a pedicure, and I'm due for one soon. I can do without a manicure - it seems, somehow, too 'precious' for the sort of life I lead. On any given days I have my hands in dishwater, dirt, and I use them hard. My toes, however....well even in winter, when they're not on show...they are my little secret/little indulgence.

Oh I love pedicures :) I hardly ever paint my fingernails...they chip too quickly so I just don't bother. I hope you're enjoying your Monday.

Hugs to you!
