An Announcement from the Buttercupland Department of Public Safety

Like my list of errands, I had a list of blog posts for this week. The schedule for today was to do a giveaway of a product I was introduced to at BlogHer. It was a "Back to School" giveaway and since school is starting in many parts of the country -- or has started -- I was all set to join in. But most of today was spent in medical pursuits, as will part of tomorrow. My hope is that it's only part of tomorrow. I have broken some of the bones in my foot, but the good news is that they are not dislocated and I should be able to avoid surgery. The last I find very good news. I see the orthopedist tomorrow morning and will know more at that time than I know now.

Accidents happen and this definitely was an accident. But I've thinking how I can avoid trips and falls in the future. I generally do look down as I walk, but I need to remember that being careful as I walk is not a part-time occupation. I need to remember that water makes tile floors slippery, that wet leaves make streets slippery and that throw rugs in the bathroom and kitchen can be problems. I feel very lucky that I didn't break my ankle or leg or still worse, my hip. But even breaking a few bones in my foot will change a lot of plans.

I'm still hoping to do my giveaway tomorrow and continue on this week with some very fun posts. Please be careful. The bones you save may be your own. As always, thanks for visiting and take good care of yourself.

I'm sorry to read that you've broken some bones, yet I'm with you no surgery is a bonus! My friends and I have been reminded recently for a few of us have taken unsuspected falls from water, down steps, over cats, rugs have moved like magic from under us and one even had an issue with her grandchild pail of dirt left unintentionally for Gramma to fall over...wishes for a speedy speedy recovery...

I'm here at the farm by myself for long periods and staying safe is a #1 priority for me. I'm not always successful, unfortunately.

So sorry about your mishap Carol. Healing thoughts your way.

So sorry to hear about your accident. I hope no surgery will be needed. It's bad enough that you will be slowed down until healing takes place. I broke my foot years ago and it's never been the same as in now I have a closet full of high heels that I can no longer wear. Getting dressed up doesn't seem to be the same without a pair of heals, I can tell you. Take good care!

THAT IS A BUMMER! What a relief though, for you that you won't need surgery. I see a lovely black boot in your future.

Buttercup...if I were there, I would give you a hug. Bummer breaking bones. I had a broken leg, once...I told my daughters if I ever did that again, to just shoot me like an old horse. I did it running on fresh snow...there was ice underneath, it was 5:30 in the morning, I heard it break in the quiet . The bad part was I was running to get in the car to go to work...gaaa, who runs to go to work. Silly me. I will walk like Tim Conway if it's slick out. Take care..xoxo,Susie

Bummer! I hope you have friends and neighbors who can help you. What a way to practice no spending September! Prays for healing being lifted up for you!

The thing I hate about your broken foot is it messes up your exercise class. Is there one that does exercises while sitting? I have seen videos for those.
