A Task I Dread

I have two activities this week that I do not look forward to. One is on Wednesday morning when I will have my one year anniversary MRI followup for my spinal cord tumor. I got my referral from my neurosurgeon in a timely fashion and made my appointment in a timely fashion. I'll have a flutter in my stomach as I take the crosstown bus to the radiology office, but I am optimistic that all is well and this task will be out of the way for quite some time. Of course, I wouldn't mind a prayer or two (or three!).

The second activity I have done in the most haphazard fashion and have put it off for a year. It's not nearly as critical, but in a different way, more dreaded. Yes, it's bathing suit shopping. The thought of wrestling elastic tubes on my chubby body is more than I can contemplate, and so I didn't. The one suit I've been wearing is snagged and faded and I need a new suit for my trip to Florida and for the aqua aerobics classes I hope to take later in the summer. Three weeks ago I saw a great collection of bathing suits -- and lots of "Miracle Suits," at greatly reduced prices. Did I try them on? No, I was completely like Scarlett O'Hara and figured I'd be back at the store soon enough. I was back today, carrying two tote bags and a wet umbrella. The great collection I'd seen was now very picked over. I did find two suits -- not too skimpy and without a skirt -- but the line to the dressing room was half a block long.

No, I didn't try on this nice black suit when I saw it three weeks ago.

This afternoon I did something I've never done before. I bought a bathing suit without trying it on. It's the right size, but the odds that it will fit and look good, slim to none. It's bright colored, it's got a slimming panel and it was greatly reduced. I could use a few prayers here, too.

I'm optimistic that the suit will fit and by the end of this week two tasks that I dread will be completed successfully. Note for next year's calendar: Buy a bathing suit in April!

Wishes for a Terrific Tuesday!

I will be praying for your radiology appt.

As for a bathing suit, I haven't owned one since my 20's!

I'm praying for you, Carol. The waiting before and after for the results are always the worst part. Always opportunity to practice prayer and patience.

Praying for your results. Soon it will be just a distant memory....and you'll be splashing in the water in your new bathing suit.

I'll be praying all goes well for you. May you have only good news all the way round. This time of year it is hard to find much of anything for summer wear. Some places are getting out fall and back to school already.

Oh bathing suit shopping isn't one of my favorite things! They always look better on the hanger than on me:) Have a blessed week and I'll be praying for the MRI trip to be a good one! HUGS!

I know that you'll be breathing easier once your appointment is over.
There is no trial as fearsome as that in the dressing room, when one is faced with the mirror while wearing a bathing suit. One's skin takes on a terrible hue and lumps and bumps that had never before been noticed come to the forefront. You are brave!!

Will be thinking of you and yes, I agree....I think I'd rather have an MRI than go bathing suit shopping! BTW, one of these days, I'd love to travel with you. Life is kind of haphazard right now. If you haven't gotten around to checking out my post yesterday, check it out and you'll know why! Let us know about the MRI as soon as you can.

The last time I wore a swimsuit was back in 2005 when my sister and I went to Iceland. We went to the Blue Lagoon natural spa. I had to change in an open locker room in full view of all the other women in there. The woman next to me was tiny and skinny and I felt like a blimp. It was humiliating. After we got into the water, my sister took a picture of me up to my neck in the warm water. I told her that was the last picture that I'd ever have take in my swimsuit!

I am praying that your MRI will show continued complete healing for you. I buy lots of swim suits since I exercise in a pool, and many ladies of all different body types wear Maxine suits. Ross often sells Maxine suits for $20 (usual price maybe $80) so I buy several when they are on sale.
Look for those, they might be perfect for you.

We are all praying for you...both for the MRI results and the swim suit fit! Since the Drs. take charge of the MRI maybe they could take charge of a swim suit purchase! Couldn't hurt! LOL Best of luck to you and get those two chores out of the way so you can get back to your normal self and plan your next project or trip. {{HUGS}} Joy

The last time I remembered NOT minding about buying or wearing a swimsuit, I was under 25 years old! J.C. Penney has carried some flattering styles over the years with a nice V-neck cut, empire waist band, and short skirt on them.
Praying your MRI will show not show anything that shouldn't be there!!!

I don't think I've ever NOT dreaded trying on a bathing suit ... longing all the while for those striped "bathing pajamas" to come back in fashion - lol.

You'll definitely be in my heart and prayers tomorrow morning!
... and awaiting a smiley "all's-well" from NYC!

I will be praying for good results from your MRI! And, I know how you feel about bathing suits.

I had a perfect suit with a tropical floral print that hid all manner of excess avoirdupois, however, I left it in a hotel bathroom. I loved that suit. I then bought a purple suit that does nothing for me but cover my nakedness, and when I forgot it on a trip to California, I got a striped suit that makes me look like a barber pole. The good news is the more you go to aqua aerobics, the better you will look in your new suit! I like the detail around the neckline, by the way.

Prayers winging heavenward right now!
