(On and Off) Broadway

I think of Broadway as the quintessential New York street. There's the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and Broadway. There's the Broadway of theater, celebrities and bright lights and then there's Buttercup's Broadway. My Broadway is the dry cleaner, my banks, the drugstore and the grocery. It's the bus route I travel most often.

I live a block from Broadway -- off Broadway -- and my street is almost entirely residential. There are a few schools and churches, medical offices, too, but for any shopping I walk up one block to Broadway. Three of my offices have been on Broadway and that gave me the opportunity to get to know different sections of the street well. We may visit some well-known sights this month, but we'll also spend time visiting  my neighborhood -- the Upper West Side -- and seeing landmarks in my life. I hope you'll enjoy seeing New York through a New Yorker's eyes. Welcome to Buttercupland!

My blog buddy, Denise, guessed the theme and a little gift will be going out to her. I'll be featuring a different Blogging from A to Z Challenge participant daily. In just a few days I've found some terrific blogs and want to share them with you.

Thanks for all the good wishes for my big work project. It went off extremely well. I arrived at the office at 5:45 a.m. yesterday and by 8:15 a.m. we were well on our way. I took today off to see my accountant and am pleased that my taxes are done. The afternoon was treat time and I had a pedicure and took a long walk. I'm now beginning to refocus on all the things that didn't get done last month, as well as the next phase of my life, The Big R.

It wouldn't be New York without Broadway. Can't wait to see your pictures. I too have already discovered so many interesting blogs and bloggers.

I'd no idea you were so near to Broadway, Carol! In comparison, your street must feel like a sweet oasis.
Guilty of making so many (touristy) assumptions about NYC, I'm really looking foward to see the city through your eyes!

Your Broadway does sound like an oasis in comparison to the hustle and bustle of the rest of the street.
