My Nights of Staying up After Midnight...

...Are definitely on the wane! I know I promised to post a giveaway last night, but I went to watch the Oscars for just a few minutes -- and before I knew it two hours had gone by and I watched the last 95% of the entire telecast. This is the first time in years, maybe decades, that I didn't fall asleep in the middle of the show. I wasn't wild about the jokes, but I liked the music and seeing all the gowns. I'd seen "Lincoln," "Argo" and "Silver Linings Playbook" and liked all of them, which made watching the actual awards interesting. Of course today and especially tonight I am dragging and not quite up to posting the photos I'd like to post with the giveaway. Alas for the days of Bob Hope -- I think he's still my favorite emcee -- and staying up past midnight during the week and not being exhausted the next day.

When I was younger I would fantasize about what I would wear to the Academy Awards. I thought, and still think, it would be exciting to be there, movie-struck as I am. My days of strapless dresses are gone with my nights of staying up late, but I searched Pinterest and found this vintage Paris evening gown that I think would be just right. I'd like some sleeve and a more modest top than the norm these days and I love the fabric. What's your dream dress?

It's definitely dreamland for me and wishes for sweet dreams for you!

Oh my goodness.... you just reminded me that I missed the oscars last night. I taped them but forgot to watch. I had company for dinner both last night and tonight so I haven't had the TV on. Well... I guess that I'd better quit reading posts and go watch.... love your dream dress.
Have a good week and get to bed earlier tonight. Hugs, Lura

As I grow older, the allure of Oscar night seems to fade ... and (darn) I've trouble identifying who's who.
Yet I'll still watch, because after all, that's such a great Tradition!

This gown is so classic ... I love the timeless, age-defying look. (Does that make sense?)

Such a beautiful dress, I love it. We just see snippets of the Oscars here, well we can stay up through the night, but I choose not to nowadays. It must be an agething hahaha.

Glad you were able to stay up so late. Not me. If I do try to make it past 10:00 I fall asleep in the chair. Most of the time I go to bed and read so that I don't do that. Hope you have regained the lost sleep and have a terrific Tuesday!

You picked out a beautiful dress. I thought the dresses were beautiful this year. And the awards went to a lot of good ones. So I am happy!

Oh I definitely enjoyed the Oscars...just a fun night. As far as my dream dress, unfortunately my dream body left awhile back so all my dream dresses went with it. Funny you mentioned Bob Hope, I did also on my Oscar post.

I never miss the Oscars. I really enjoyed them Sunday night with all the special musical numbers. (I got a kick out of "I saw your boobs" too). Your dream dress reminds me of one that Lady Mary would wear on Downton Abbey!

I guess you really caught the most important part, then! Too long, drawn out, who cares really about the behind-the-scenes-nameless-faceless people? Oh well. I thought Seth did a really good job, he was knocked by most people, unfortunately. I liked the boob song, it was true and the jokes were hilarious, even if offensive, also smacked of some truth! xo

This is very beautiful! I might have to have even more sleeves but I love the skirt detail in this one! WOW!
