(Semi) Lazy Saturday

When I came home an hour ago there were big white fluffy snow flakes falling. Now they seem to have turned to cold rain and I am so content to be in my warm apartment. I brewed a pot of coffee and am having a snack of white chocolate peppermint kettle corn. The latter is as good as it sounds. I'd been admiring it in the grocery, but at $5.00 a bag, it seemed a bit pricey for me. Today it was half the price -- love the after-holiday sales -- and I am really enjoying it.

I went to services this morning and stayed for a luncheon. I enjoyed the salads, but more so enjoyed catching up with friends I haven't seen in awhile. I knew I'd missed a few weeks of services, but when a few friends said, "Long time, no seeing you," I realized it was more than a few weeks. It felt so good to be in the warmth of worship and our congregation.

I now remember why I so focused on decluttering last January. Things really start to pile up and the little piles I promised myself I would sort through may just turn into a landslide if I don't get busy on them. My goal for today is to sort Christmas cards and wrapping and discard things that I didn't use this year and probably won't use next year. It's a modest goal, but one that I hope will get me on a good path moving forward. I did a good job with clothes last year -- there is actually extra space in my closets -- but paper is still a problem and is definitely my challenge for 2013 decluttering.

Though I don't have a Christmas tree in my apartment I do enjoy the Christmas tree in our building lobby. I think it looks especially pretty this year.

Tomorrow I hope to see "Lincoln." Any reviews, blogger buddies? For now I'm just going to settle back, drink my coffee, read a few magazines and wish you...

A warm and cozy Saturday!

A great buy on that wonderful kettle corn!

I have fears that I will be buried under the avalanche of the paper that is stacked around here!:-) It takes supreme effort to stay ahead of it! Actually, we seem to be able not to let it become too bad.:-)

Enjoy your cozy Saturday!

I too am snuggled in my warm home, ready to tackle a new book while the wind & tiny snowflakes are blowing outside. I will start the de-cluttering later, hmmm, I seem to say that every year. Lincoln...one of my friends said it was so boring she walked out after 30 minutes, another said, it was interesting but if it would have gone on any longer she would have been bored. Surprising since it is up for so many awards. I hope your viewing is better than these 2.

Decluttering is Number One on our list for 2013. Major Decluttering has got to happen, we have far too much "Stuff"!

We are relaxing this evening with my granddaughter Jazmine staying with us and eagerly anticipating her big brother Conor arriving home tomorrow on his two weeks leave.

Enjoy your four day vacation my dear friend.

love and hugs

Buttercup, I am going to declutter this year also. I have to make myself do it. Have to start some time. We shoveled the drives and the porch and now the wind is just blowing it all right back...well it was exercise at least. I am so ready for the snow to go. take care if you go out. xoxo,Susie

Sounds like you are in store for a nice evening. It is rainy and 36 here this evening. I have a book to read on kindle and of course, there is a cat in my lap as I type!
The lobby Christmas tree is very nice and I love the lights' reflection in the floor. I have not been to see the movie.

I'll be interested in hearing your impression of "Lincoln". I have been thinking that I should do a January inventory. I have lived here since 1990 so I have stuff packed away on closet shelves that I've forgotten about. It's time to get it out and decide whether to keep it or pass it on. I'm sure there will be some surprises too!

We've had those big fluffy flakes here for most of the day. I cleared the steps and the walks outside once, but will probably have to do it again tomorrow. It's definitely nice to stay in and be cozy.

I haven't seen the movie, but I have read other's thoughts and they were all positive. De-cluttering is on the top of my list for 2013 resolutions.

Paper is a problem for me, too. No matter how good I get at decluttering other areas, I always seem to have a mountain of paper. Ugh. Maybe I need dto make that goal for this year... to finally figure out a system that works for us.
