Chivalry is Alive and Well...

Even in New York City!

Nothing this dramatic (or romantic!) took place, though I could use a little romance in life, especially on a gray and rainy day following Christmas. The weather today went from clear skies to snow to sleet and rain. I was attempting to cross Lexington Avenue and was stopped by puddles as large as a castle moat. A nice looking younger -- could be 50 -- man held out his hand and helped pull me across one of the puddles. I am sure that good gesture helped at least one angel get his wings.

Christmas was fun and I had a very enjoyable day with friends. Thank you all for your sweet wishes. I do find December 26 a let down. I do have New Year's cards to write and a party or two to attend, but now winter looms ahead and I am not a fan of winter. My hat, boots and gloves have all been pressed into service, though I am hoping that today's snow is an aberration and my boots will get little use this year.

I've just lit a lemon scented candle and I'm about to make a cup of tea and do a little reading. Sounds cozy, doesn't it? Wishing you an equally warm and cozy evening!

Warm and cozy sounds nice, and ah, to see that chivalry is alive! I am reading a book that causes me to laugh as I read, the wonderful P.G. Wodehouse and The Code of the Woosters.

What a nice gentleman! A friend gave me a new series of books for Christmas - I can't wait to tuck in!

Lemon Candles and cups of tea. Sounds cosy to me. It's always a bit of a let down I think, once Christmas is over. We put so much into it and then like a pouff, it is gone. But we can carry it in our hearts and the magic can linger longer. I am glad that chivalry is not dead. There are some very nice people still in the World. Now I am wondering what Lauren's books are. Happy New Year. xxoo (Sorry, reads very disjointed, but that's how my brain is working today!)

Isn't it wonderful that there are such kind people left in this world. We didn't have any rain or sleet here in Ohio but got lots and lots of snow. Yes the boots are a necessity here for sure. Hope you can keep warm and cosy on a wintry day like today.

Lemon candle and tea??I'll be right over...oh how I wish I lived next door. That is nice that a people help each other. When we were in NYC I met a few NYers who were very helpful. But looking at the crowds, I decided no one really lived there, everyone was a tourist.:):) I do not like winter so much either. But I do not want to be a snowbird. Stay warm and safe . xo,Susie

I was surprised and delighted to still find Christmas movies on last night! Ironically one of the things I like best after Christmas is turkey sandwiches. However, I'm staying at the motherhouse all week because I have better access to work. Alas--no turkey sandwiches!

That was a very thoughtful gentleman! Lucky for you!

Family just arrived on Wednesday for our time together, and they will leave on Friday. We are still in the "celebrating mode."

Have a good Thursday!

A post to warm the heart :o)

I love the image of you sitting reading with a pot of tea beside you. Lemon scent lifting your spirits. Chivalry is not dead, maybe it is making a comeback? Well miracles do happen...

I've got about an hour to be warm and cozy and then it is back out into the cold windy weather to deliver our Jonathan to his work.

I so enjoy it when men aren't afraid or ashamed to be chivalrous. Kudos to you for sharing this story. Maybe it will inspire even more such acts of respect.

Yea for chivalry!!! I can just visualize that moment, and it warmed my heart!
Sorry you're experiencing the worst sort of winter yuck! Doesn't sound much like a Courier & Ives print ... wish you were here!
