All Around the Town...

...New Yorkers are getting ready to celebrate.

It's almost party time in New York. In some places where citizens of Buttercupland reside it is 2013, but we still have almost eight more hours here. In a few hours I will be joining friends for dinner, conversation and laughter. I am in charge of the dinner, and in a very simplified fashion that meant consulting with a friend and ordering Chinese food online. I am also in charge of the ice cream selection and I will stop at the drugstore and choose two flavors for tonight. One will be chocolate and one will be something other. I am leaning to Heath Bar Crunch, one of my favorites.  This is not the usual dinner out or highly coordinated potluck, but it felt just right and took just the right amount of energy. Ice cream and Chinese food -- including orange chicken -- are highly indulgent and I am happy to forget calories and salt count for one night.

Tomorrow I am going to post my "word" for 2013 and then begin a series on goals for the year ahead. Before 2012 is only a memory I want to extend my thanks and affection for the friendship and support I received from all of you throughout the year. I am so blessed to have found this corner of Blogland and equally blessed by all who visit here. I wish you and your families good health and happiness in 2013, and my special wish that my path crosses with many of you this year.

Happy, healthy, joyous wishes for 2013!

Sounds like a wonderful evening and NYE celebration. I no longer can deal with crowds and the craziness that is NYC on NYE. No way! Wishing you the best for a bright and happy New Year. xo

Happy New Year to you, too! I am going to be playing catch-up on blog-reading in the next few days so will be reading all this backwards.
You are a smart hostess. It's best to save the time and energy for your guests so you can enjoy your party, too! We will be watching Times Square on the TV later. From NYC tonight to the Rose Parade in California tomorrow!

Very fun party hats!

I'm celebrating the New Year too - - - right here, in my pj's, in my own home, watching my own TV (bowl game) and checking e-mail and blogs.

Best way to celebrate, and no party hat required!

It sounds like a wonderful New Years eve! I've got my party hats and noise makers ready but they won't really be used until tomorrow when my children and their families come for New Years Day dinner. Best wishes for all good things in the New Year!

Happy New Year, Carol! Thanks for dropping by and leaving your sweet comments on my blog. Your New Year's celebration sounded delicious...Chinese food (my 3 kiddos love "chicken on a stick" (i.e. Teriyaki chicken) and who doesn't love ice cream! Did you end up going with Heath Bar Crunch? That's a favorite of mine too...especially in a Dairy Queen Blizzard!

Blessings to you in 2013!
