(What I Pray Will Be) My Last Post About Surgery...

...for a long, long time!

Today was my post-surgical follow-up. Somewhere between last week and today I got a gust of energy and did everything that I needed to do -- the doctor, the bank and the drugstore -- without exhaustion. I'm still not very peppy, but for someone who could barely get out of bed a week ago, to be up and dressed, in a taxi and walking through New York City was nothing short of a miracle. I even got to add lunch with a friend who met me at the bank.

My doctor's visit went very well. My stitches are gone and the incision is healing very well. I can now lift twenty pounds, -- which means I can do light grocery shopping alone -- and will start physical therapy in the middle of July. The pain has definitely lessened and I can really foresee being off all medication in the near future. The only thing I can't do is lift a suitcase and he would prefer I not to do any flying trips for the next four to five months. I do have a trip planned for November -- no tickets ordered yet -- and barring anything unforeseen, he thinks that should be fine. Best of all, the biopsy results are back and they are benign.

I'm not planning to go back to work until after Fourth of July weekend and will take the next two weeks to rest, build up strength and endurance and relax. I'm hoping to visit with friends I didn't get to see in the last week and spend some time outside just enjoying New York City. It's time for some new, fun pictures!

For all of you who prayed, sent me your loving thoughts and good wishes, for the my kind and talented surgeon and for the gift of Infinite Grace, I am so thankful.

Oh Buttercup, I can tell you are enjoying life again. Just be sure to get plenty of rest, and not overdo walking and having excursions. Though lunch with friends is always a spirit lifter.

So glad to hear all went well for you post op, Carol! I hope you continue to recover quickly.

A good friend of mine went through major abdominal surgery recently and things have not been good for her, and it made me appreciate that we can't take good outcomes and healing for granted.

After studying a patient's medical history, physical therapists observe the patient's posture, strength, motor function, breathing ability, coordination, and balance. Visit great website for more info.
