Two Moments in the Life of New York

The first moment happened at the drugstore tonight. It was a rough day at work. Meetings, pressure, a comment from someone in authority that ruffled my feathers a lot and in the midst of this, a run to the dentist for a fitting for my crown. Nothing really terrible, but one of those days where I focus on how many days are left in my present career. I chose several cute Valentines's, always good for the spirit, but I still must have looked sad. I heard a voice say, "Smile, gorgeous." This greeting came from a much younger man I've never met, and I smiled and kept smiling. Maybe he was just one of New York's eccentrics and says this to every woman he sees, but I'll take it as a compliment. Thanks, Mr. Stranger.

A moment in the life of Broadway and West 64th Street. This statue caught my eye a few weeks ago.

Update on Low Spending February...The Valentine's made a major dent in my $16.50 allowance for the month, but it was $9.00 well spent and I think several people will be smiling on February 14th. On the decluttering front I have made a major dent in magazines and I am very pleased. It's not perfect yet, but moving in a good direction. Tonight I made an appointment for clothes and a few household things to be picked up. This weekend I hope to finish the magazine effort and will report back on my progress. I also got major decluttering and shredding done in the office and am feeling great about that.

Wishes for a sweet Friday!

It only takes a smile to make someones day. I'm glad you got one. The weekend is close and it sounds like you are ready for one. Great job on the decluttering...I've not done a thing here this week. But it's all good. Sometimes we just need to relax.

How selfless of you to share your limited spending money on others. You will receive such joy in the giving just as that young man must have felt when you smiled today.

Glad that a handsome stranger took notice and put a spring in your step turning your bad day right around. LOVE, LOVE that statue. Not making much progress here in the declutter department. Knees giving me a fit. take care.

Buttercup,
Maybe Mr Stranger was one of your angels looking out for you.
Tip: Next time you need cards, give a look over at Etsy or Ebay. There are folks making beautiful handmade cards for the same price you pay at Hallmark.

Hmm...I'd start hanging out in that drug store more often. Glad a stranger made your day!

A stranger in New York made a pleasant remark? We are always given the opposite picture of New Yorkers!
Glad to hear it's not always true. I love the apples and crow statue.

Sorry about your rough days. And I thought the apple statue was kind of interesting. But you gave yourself $16.50 in spending money a month? Yikes. sandie

Hope you are enjoying your weekend. Hate weeks like that. On Tuesday this week I swore it was Friday. It was that hectic. Good work on the decluttering. I need to do lots more of it around here.
