Croatia On My Mind

I have a list of places on my dream list. It hasn't changed much in the last five years and it usually starts with Bali, Laos and Antarctica. The places are far, exotic and expensive. One of my goals at retirement was to visit one of these places. But I have another goal and that's to spend time with the people I love, and that won't necessarily be in Laos, Bali or Antarctica.

I was chatting with K. last week and she mentioned plans for a trip to Croatia. She suggested I join the travel party. I've been to Croatia for a day when it was still Yugoslavia and liked it a lot, but it didn't get to the top of my travel list. I must add that I was an unwilling visitor -- there was something else I wanted to do that day and it wasn't going to Croatia -- and it turned out to be a wonderful day. But as the days have gone by the desire to spend time with K. and another travel buddy became greater than checking places off my travel list. I still want to see Laos etc., but Croatia with K. and Pat has jumped up to the top of the list. It's not just the place, but the people on the journey that mean the most.

Of course when I started to read about some of the places we might visit I got excited. This sight looks extraordinary!

The trip is well into the future and it's still a maybe, but I'm enjoying the thought of it, especially on a cold winter day.

Breaking news from the decluttering front! I have reclaimed a large section of a file drawer and a section of my bedroom dresser top.  There's still a long way to go, but there's a glimmer of light ahead.

Sweet wishes for Saturday night!

WOWOWOW! That looks amazing. I hope you DO get to go. My decluttering continues to be in smallish amounts but it's leaving my house so I'm not complaining! Thanks for your comments on my blog. :)

A trip with friends sounds good to me. It's nice to have somewhere to dream about. Especially this time of year.

Dear Buttercup, Sounds like a nice trip to look forward too. Spending good times with the ones you love is the most important of all time spent. It makes everyday a holiday. Blessings my dear, Catherine xo

OMG. That place looks AMAZING. It has waterfalls, lush forests. I LOVE waterfalls. I can see why you are excited. I hope you get to go. Your decluttering efforts have shamed me into attempting to do something about the mess here. So today, I managed to clear a table. Baby steps. LOL take care.

I have thought about what constitutes having been to a place.
I landed in New York late at night and went by cab from LaGuardia to Kennedy. Can I rightly say I've been to New York? I had layovers in Amsterdam and Oslo. I'm tempted to say that since I have breathed the air in those locations, I have been there, whether I actually saw any of the sights or not.

That picture - - WOW - - - looks like heaven itself.
I am proud of you with the de-cluttering. We are in the same mindset - - - and trying NOT to pile stuff back in the places we empty. That's the hard part for us!
