Remembering Elizabeth Taylor

Elizabeth Taylor has been one of my favorite actresses throughout my life. From a little girl I was taken with movies and I started to read movie magazines -- remember them? -- when I was in the early years of grade school. My mother's attitude was that it was great I was reading and let me spend my allowance on "Modern Screen"' and "Photoplay." Somewhat unusual, but I did become a great reader and a great movie fan, two interests that have stayed with me throughout my life.

I've probably seen 90% of the movies Elizabeth Taylor made -- "Raintree County" to "The Sandpiper," but my all-time favorite remains "Father of the Bride." It is delightful fun and Elizabeth Taylor is a beautiful young woman, perfectly cast to her father in the film, Spencer Tracy. I am sure that I can't count the number of times I've seen this movie and I am always engrossed.

What is your favorite Elizabeth Taylor movie?

Father of the Bride was a wonderful movie. Spencer Tracy was also another great movie icon. All of the great ones were larger than life. I really love the old movies and I loved Elizabeth Taylor.

I've only seen her in Cleopatra, and Father's Little Dividend...but I'm sure in the coming weeks that others will play her stuff more often...

Yes her passing is the end of an era. I have always been a fan, enjoying everything from the famliy movies Lassie to National Velvet to Father of the Bride through to Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,Giant, Butterfeild 8. She was stunningly beautiful and talented.

I wonder who met her at the Pearly Gates?

I loved Elizabeth Taylor too. And I also remember the movie magazines - she was one of the last from the big silver screen. She was suppose to have violet eyes...sandie

Oh I was so sad to read about this. My parents saw a lot of her movies. I don 't remember which ones I saw

She was one of the last of the iconic mega glamorous movie stars. More importantly she was a wonderful champion of many good causes in her later years.

Thank you so much for your congratulations and best wishes for my new grandson! We are very blessed.

OK, I'm thoroughly chagrined ... never having seen an Elizabeth Taylor film! Still, I adored her .. especially she and Burton.
I like to think they're together again; still wildly in love.
