Day Five...Portland, Maine

Actually, day five was spent in Freeport, Maine. For the last several months I'd planned to visit the L.L. Bean outlet in Portland and do some fall/winter clothes shopping. I'd been looking at the catalogues and studying the various types of turtlenecks available. When we arrived in Portland I discovered that the outlet I'd been planning to visit had closed two days before. Not to be deterred in my plans my travel buddy, Lynda, and I took a taxi to the pretty town of Freeport, home of L.L. Bean, and I was not disappointed.

We didn't get to COWS in Nova Scotia, but we did get yummy Maine ice cream.

We were blessed with supremely beautiful weather, good shopping and yummy ice cream. Couldn't ask for more!

I adore Maine, and have enjoyed three trips there...one in '73, '88, and '95. When I turn 60 next year, my daughter is treating me to trip. We hope to take the cruise from Boston up to Nova Scotia, with stops in Maine. I've been there in Sept., October, and June, and loved them all. Bet you've had some irish soda bread at some point during your trip, haven't you?
We love Camden, and the clam chodda there. Oh, so many places. Love the trout pond inside LL Bean as well. The outlet malls are in Kittery, and driving that coast is wonderful. The lighthouses, the quaint towns and oh those accents! So glad you're enjoying this part of the eastern states. Come next year, I hope to be doing the same!

This looks like such fun! I shop frequently at LL Bean - you just can't beat their outdoor gear!

I love outlet shopping. We don't have a LL Bean one around here but I do like their clothes. Glad you had your ice cream too.

Main is so beautiful. I haven't been there for years...but I have very fond memories. Thanks for stopping by to visit. Hope you try the "pumpkin delight" soon. You will not be disappointed. I just became your newest follower...your blog is lovely and I look forward to "following along"! Hope to hear from you again soon too! Have a wonderful upcoming week! :)

By the way...you say you are a brand new senior...at what age now do we qualify? lol

My friends and I tried to visit Freeport and all its outlets every Fall as well. I loved the Hanes outlet (is it still there) and we all loved LL Bean......:-) Hugs

We were in Portland last month and visited the outlet store before it closed. Found nothing we wanted, too cheap to take a taxi to Freeport. Should have done it!
