Hooray! It's Huckleberry Day!

I'm still feeling more Stinkweed than Buttercup tonight. After I finish this note I am going to take a hot shower, light my lavender candle -- thanks, Becky! -- http://hospitalitylane.blogspot.com/ and finish the terrific mystery that I am reading. But the best thing I could think of for tonight's blog was to declare a Buttercup Holiday. It's long overdue for a holiday here in Buttercupland and for the next 24 hours we are celebrating...

Huckleberry Day

We discovered huckleberries in Montana and loved them. I had huckleberry jam every morning on toast and huckleberry sauce for our bison and I bought a jar of jam, which I have been enjoying with peanut butter since my return. I know the jam jar shows a strawberry, but in Buttercupland, as in life, it's often the thought that counts.

How to celebrate Huckleberry Day? It's the thought that counts. If you don't have huckleberries, have some strawberry jam, or grape jelly or just think sweet thoughts and know that your blog sisters around the world are pausing for sweet thoughts with you.

P.S. Thank you all for your thoughtful and dear notes on turning sixty. I will both seize and savor the time and treasure all of your kindness.

Sweet Lilac Lane ~ The older you get the more enjoyable the years become ... each decade has its beauty & pitfalls ... I can only say that I am as vital today as in earlier years, if not moreso ... & loving each one, despite my medical issues.

Becky's candles are luscious, an understatement ... they are fabulous! Oh my, as a child we would go out into the woods & search in old logging camp grounds for huckleberries & wild blackberries (no one out this way will EVER eat a blackberry like we have in WA ST ... they are nearly extinct now). What fun we would have eating more than went into the berry buckets ... Mother made the BEAST jams out of them ... makes my mouth water thinking of that delicious flavor!

I just went back & saw all your gorgeous pictures from Montana ...it is such a pretty state.

Have a beautiful evening, sweet friend ... gosh! it has been so DULL around here since you two gals left!

Hugs of love, Marydon

DEAR BUTTERCUP,
WHAT A WONDERFUL POST. I READ YOUR POST ABOUT MOTHER'S DAY AND I FEEL THAT ANYONE WHO HAS SOMEONE THAT LOOKS UP TO THEM FOR THE INSTRUCTIONS OF LIFE AND ADVICE IS A MOTHER WHETHER THEY HAVE A CHILD OF THEIR BLOOD OR NOT.
A SOCIAL WORKER, THAT LOOKS OUT FOR THE NEEDS OF CHILDREN, AS BEAUTIFUL AS YOUR HEART IS A MOTHER.
HAPPY BELATED MOTHER'S DAY BECAUSE I FEEL YOU CERTAINLY ARE A MOTHER AS WELL AS A GODMOTHER.
YOU ARE LOVED AND BLESSED
SIMPLY DEBBIE

I've missed some of your recent posts, they aren't coming through my dashboard for some reason! Happy belated 60th, may your life be sweeter each day. The jam will help in that department!

Never heard of huckleberries which is probably a good thing. Luv jams and butters. Just don't have much self-control with having it in the house.
