Until Spring

As I stand in the cold and wait for the bus or set out for work in the last dark moments before light, I question the need for winter. The cold is seeping through my boots and one glove has mysteriously disappeared into my tote bag. I love the spring and am eagerly thinking of the first warm breeze or the tip of a crocus sticking up through the dirt.

But we're not there yet, and the last thing I want to do is count the days away. I'm not sure I can learn to love the winter as I do spring, summer and fall, but I want to find the good, even joy in these cold winter days.

Wishes to you for warmth and joy this week!

Oh my we are having such a winter here. One like we've never had before. I can only imagine how it feels there in New York. Just today I told my husband how much I am longing for March. Warm gentle breezes...that sounds so wonderful.

Stay warm my friend...spring is just around the corner right?

I'm afraid to say that I do count down the days but not just until Spring but for all the seasons. It is just a fun thing I do, but really trying to find joy in winter is not easy. We do have some holidays and of course family celebrations but the every day is not always easy at all. My joy last week was in finding new gloves to replace lost ones. We'll see what this week brings. Have a great Monday.

I'm firmly convinced that the frozen tundra that we live in will remain a frozen tundra long after spring should have sprung!

Hi Buttercup! Since you like "round numbers", I thought I'd do you the honor of becoming your 50th follower. I love all your warm wishes because this world needs warm people like you.

Well just remember this -- the reason your area is so gorgeous the rest of the year is because of the snow and cold you get -- the plants there need that "chill factor," and the snow carries many rare ions down with it...the severity of the cold kills off insect populations that could overtake even luxurious plant and animal growth...

We don't have the winters that most of the country does -- and we don't have the beauty, either...

P.S. I have a glove that is kin to your glove, because it jumps off my hand and dives under the car seat when needed...or somehow gets stuck under the wiper blade and rides to work there, flapping in the wind...duh...

Hey Buttercup! Thanks so much for commenting on Christopher's birthday post. I have pasted them into a doc and he plans to frame it and put it on his wall. Plus, I put them into a folder for him. :-)

Spring, ahhh wonderful thought in this cold, cold weather. :-)

What I love about winter: hot chocolate, fires in the fireplace, cute scarves and warm afghans. (Of course it doesn't get as cold in Texas as it does in New York, so it is all relative!)

There is beauty in the snowy trees, and the scent of a crock pot full of a meal welcoming you home. Rosy cheeks, and the smell that you bring inside with you when it's cold....each season offers us something unique from the others. Winter has its pros and cons, as do most things in life. Ahh well.
