Happy Halloween from Our Corner of the World

Halloween, as seen down the block

Halloween, as seen on my walk this afternoon

Halloween, as seen at Newark Airport

Halloween, as seen in Buttercupland

Pep is wearing his Yankees uniform, even though his heart was broken by last night's final World Series game.

I've been immersed in Halloween for the last week, including a very fun Halloween party in Oklahoma City last weekend. There are lots of decorations in the neighborhood and there were lots of trick or treaters. The weather was cooperative, both for our costumes last week and in New York City today.

I haven't worn a costume in years, but my group of friends decided to go to the Halloween party, very graciously hosted by my friend's sister, in costume. We arrived as a group of Christmas carolers. After a visit to Walmart we were all attired in plaid holiday pajamas. We definitely were a sight, but there was a lot of laughter and a very good time was had by all. Was anyone else in a costume this Halloween?

My trip to Oklahoma was great. We did some sightseeing -- post to come -- shopping, laughing, catching up on the years since I've seen my friends (much too long!), a fun lunch out at a beautiful Mexican restaurant and eating ice cream. I discovered a new favorite ice cream store, Braum's, and for all of the above, hope for a return visit.

As ever, thanks for visiting and hope your Halloween was a yummy one.

You're Invited! So Don't Be Late...

It's a National Holiday in Buttercupland! It's my fourth Blogaversary.

I'm interrupting "Ten Thoughts..." for a very important date. Tomorrow is the fourth blogaversary of Buttercupland and I can't wait to celebrate, so I'm starting the party a day early. Hurray!

Thank you all for four fabulous years. I thank you for every comment, visit, email and the wonderful meetings with my blog buddies from all over the world. What an extraordinary treat to meet some of the nicest, most thoughtful folks imaginable. You have all enriched my life immeasurably and I am grateful. Friends, how did I live without all of you?

I wasn't very certain that I would (en)joy blogging at all, let alone find it a great joy, and I have. Here's to the year ahead. My prayers for a year of laughter and friendship and joy and happy surprises. Thanks for coming along on the ride.

Let the party begin!

Three Candles Mean...

It's my third blogaversary. Happy birthday to Buttercupland!

And my blogging goal for 2010...to keep blogging, even when I come home at night and I'm tired and not very inspired. To be a good friend to my blog friends around the world and to keep my focus on all that is good and positive and joyful. Here's to 2010 and all the friendship and wonder and surprises that are yet to be discovered.  And now let's party!

This is what I wrote two years ago and posted again last year. It still rings true in 2012 and I am happy to recommit to the same goals. Thanks for laughter, support, encouragement, prayer and friendship. It has been a wonderful year in Buttercupland. I became "Aunt Buttercup" to sweet Rocky, spent time with Pat and Lorraine in New York and loved every second of BlogHer and meeting Lura and John in San Diego.

I love poetry and some of my favorite lines are these by Robert Browning, "Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be..." So it is in Buttercupland. The best is yet to be! Every thanks for the year past and every dream and prayer for the year ahead. The best is yet to be.

Celebrate...

Come on Good times! There's a party going on tonight because it's a Buttercup holiday. In all parts of Buttercupland -- and anywhere else you'd like to celebrate -- it's Blog Sisters' Day! I don't know if this is a holiday anywhere else, but it should be.
I love presiding over my own country, even if it's only a virtual country. There are no taxes, ice cream is double rich and yet has no calories, and all the lighting is very flattering. I can declare a holiday any time I choose and there's peace and love all the time. Please come and visit often, dear blog sisters. You will have a warm welcome in Buttercupland from the Buttercup-in-Chief.
