On the Fifth Night of Chanukah...

...I  lit five candles

Yesterday was the  fifth night of Chanukah, the festival of lights. Chanukah commemorates the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem over two thousand years ago. The menorah -- eight flame candle holder -- pictured above is the one my family used when I was growing up that I am still using.

My last post was about the December whirlwind. Now Christmas is over, Chanukah is mostly over and New Years feels just about a nanosecond away. The end of the whirlwind is in sight. As much as I felt I was being blown all over I'm beginning to look at January and know I will miss the excitement and fun of December. I'm definitely returning to regularly scheduled programming in activities, food and spending.

I'll be back with New Year wishes tomorrow and then it's on the 2025. We'll be looking back at 2024's Journey of 1100 Miles, my reading goals for 2024 and for 2025 and another year of No-Spending January. January is also Sweet-Sixteen for Buttercupland and there will be a giveaway.  I hope you'll stop by for all the Buttercupland fun in the new year.

As ever, thanks for visiting and take care.

It has been a crazy Chrismakkuh in our world, with a Jewish Christmas Eve Chinese dinner out with family and friends, a Bon Voyage-Christmas party, and remembering those (especially) who passed away around Thanksgiving and Christmas, finding out about a very sick friend, a sad breakup, an almost done divorce, an upsetting Trumper-in-the-family encounter, watching tons of distracting football and old movies, and baking and baking (even with the toaster oven as we don't have a repair person scheduled yet). It rained, it drizzled. The wind howled. The sun came out and the mountains sparkled with new snow. I'm grateful for my sweet husband, Neal and the adventures we had in 2024 with planning now for 2025. We haven't quite given up on our country or Democracy, but we sure have been mentally challenged to stay positive at times. We thank Jimmy Carter for so much good in our lives. 100 years is a long time to keep the faith. Yes, NYE celebration with F&F is tomorrow night with a BD brunch (first) tomorrow am. And, so it goes.

I am so not-ready for 2025, and pretty anxious about it. My lights will stay up for awhile! Meanwhile, I'm sending many good Happy New Year wishes your way. And something else, soon!

I said to Jake this morning—my school break is almost over and I feel so over stimulated by it all. I’m looking forward to a calm start to 2025!
