Perfect shoes for Pink Saturday
One of the things that has occupied my time for the last week has been my need for shoes, specifically my need to shoes to wear to a wedding in slightly less than two weeks. This may seem a bit odd, because I just went to a wedding -- post still in the writing -- and I didn't go shoeless. But actually I did go very close to shoeless.
I packed my black fabric "wedding" shoes, last worn to a wedding in October, 2018, assuming they would be just fine. They fit sort of okay, but my gait isn't what it was five years ago and I wobbled just as I did when I got my first pair of 'heels" sixty years ago. I kept them on for the ceremony and then for the formal photographs. At the next available minute I changed to my semi flip flops and danced the night away, averting the possibility of a broken hip. As soon as I got home I listed the shoes with our local Buy Nothing Group and they have gone to a new owner. Moral of the story: Try on shoes before they're packed. The hip you save may be your own.
The next wedding I'm scheduled to attend is Labor Day weekend and until Thursday I was shoeless. I went to a few local shoes stores and had no luck and then I decided to brave Macy's. There were some very tempting shoes on sale -- pictured above -- and though I love heels I know I can't walk in them, let alone dance. I certainly wouldn't be able to "twist again like we did last summer," and that last summer was 1962. So I opted for sensibility.
Voila! My new "wedding" shoes:
I didn't expect to take a hiatus from blogging when I got back from Jess and Adam's wedding, but I had more catching up to do than I anticipated. I started physical therapy for my neck right away and also had an appointment with my ophthalmologist, plus unpacking, grocery shopping and all of the errands of daily life. But I'm back with Pink Saturday and will be posting wedding pictures -- it was beautiful! -- and pictures of the town where the wedding was held, Clayton, N.Y. I am totally in love with Clayton and so enjoyed being able to spend time there this summer.
The week ahead is a busy one, with more physical therapy, a dentist visit, a milestone birthday celebration and friends visiting from out of town. Grateful to have so much to look forward to. What's on your agenda this week?
As ever, thanks for visiting and have a great week. Buttercupland friends in California and Nevada, heart and prayers for safety are with you.

I love the shoes you bought! They may be sensible (vs the heels) but they look great and hopefully you won't have to change into the flip flops! Maybe wear them around your apartment for the next few weeks to break them in!
You must show us the shoes at the wedding!
Today I'm celebrating having my internet back, I no longer wear heals either. I think your flats are very dressy. Perfect for a wedding !
Hi Carol. I love your new shoes. I haven't worn heels for years. I didn't like wearing them when I was young. So glad to see you back in blogland. You have a busy week so I hope everything goes well. See you again soon!
Carol, I'm with you and can no longer wear heels unless it's a short stacked type. The new shoes look wonderful and should be very comfortable for dancing the night away! It was great to read that your old shoes have found a new owner as well.
I like the new shoes - they're blingy!
