Pink Saturday Gets Ready to Set Sail

Do you  go with the red outfits?

Or are these your choices?

Tomorrow night at this time -- fingers crossed and no flight issues -- I'll be at the airport waiting to board the flight to London. My suitcase will be checked ahead and I can guarantee that none of the outfits above will be included. There will be t-shirts, leggings, jeans, a couple of skirts and a dress that can be worn to "formal" nights on the ship.  It will be sensible, coordinated and chosen to pack well and survive at least half a day (or more) in a suitcase. My biggest goal is to not overpack and make sure there's room to bring a few treats back from the trip.

But let's dream a little. After all it's Pink Saturday, a time for dreams and a little magic. I'm dreaming that I don't have to think about luggage weight limits, maneuvering suitcases around airports and most of all, budgets. Instead of the sensible clothes I've selected I drift over to Bergdorf Goodman, possibly the most pricy department store in New York, and make my way to the designer floor. I can choose anything for formal night and budget and size are no issue. What would I choose? What would you choose for a formal event?

That moment of magic is not about to happen -- though it's fun to dream -- and the next best is window shopping. I photographed the outfits above during a walk on Fifth Avenue last week. The strapless green gown first caught my eye and then the long red gown in the next window. I was most intrigued by the short print dress. It's not at all what I would think about wearing, but I liked the sense of fun. No fears, I'm not cashing in my 401k to buy it, but I might be on the lookout for something that's fun, but not a Halloween costume. Does that even exist for those of us who graduated high school in the 1960's?

On that note, my friends, it's time to do a little organizing and then get a good night's sleep. Adventure awaits tomorrow.

As ever, thanks for visiting and have a great week.

I love the color red and wear a lot of it. However I don't own any evening wear. I never have a reason to wear it. Your trip sounds like it will be amazing. They say a little black dress always works for most occasions. I do have one of them. o that's what I'd wear Have fun and enjoy !

I am so excited for you and your trip - - - and the adventures you will share with us! Praying each day holds wonderful memories.
Life and clothing design sure has changed a lot since graduation. Back then we embroidered patches and flowers over the holes in our jeans! The most skin we showed was our legs in those mini skirts. Our prom dresses did not look like a negligee or a slip to be worn under a dress. Each generation seems to have something more to shock those born before them.

Oh, to be in London, now that April's there! Or anytime, for that matter. More than a tad of envy going your way as you visit my favorite place. Have a wonderful trip.
