Street art in Reykjavik, Iceland
I got back to New York on Saturday and have been (very) slowly settling back into routine. I'm just about finally getting back into being home and back to blogging. I've got a few more posts about the trip in mind for August blogging before I get back into New York life.
The last stop on the trip was the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik. The two days before arriving in Reykjavik were very busy on excursions, including the fabulous waterfalls at Godafoss, and we chose to have an unstructured time here. We had a great lunch, enjoyed walking on the main shopping street and did some last minute shopping. We had sunny weather, though I needed a spring jacket for our walking.
I didn't learn Icelandic, but I could figure out that this was a tea and coffee store.

So many temptations at this store, with many kinds of Icelandic candy treats.
I'm still in awe of the incredible sights I got to see. The waterfalls of Northern Iceland were fabulous and the amazing puffin colony in Newfoundland will be long remembered. But it was something totally unexpected -- just a blip when I read the itinerary -- that turned out to be the showstopper. Prince Christian Sound separates Greenland from the islands of the Cape Farewell Archipelago and was one of the most beautiful and magical places I have ever seen. Our only experience with Iceland is with a stop in the airport on two different trips to Europe. Looks like a lovely spot.

Nice you got away and enjoyed the cruise. It was also nice to have a break from the heat. No matter where we go though, there's just no place quite like home.
