The Journey of 1000 Miles 2022 Version

These steps at the Color Factory yesterday will be part of March Miles

As promised I'm here to recap my February projects, starting with the Journey of 1,000 Miles. I'm mostly on my miles goal for the year so far, remembering that the winter is a traditionally tough time to get in as many steps as I'd like. My goal for every month is 80+ and February with cold and snowy days totaled 72.4 miles. I'm not thrilled, but I'm realistic that there were days that didn't lend themselves to a lot of walking. I'll add, because pretending otherwise doesn't help meet a goal, that there were days I was less than energetic. Between January and February I walked 154 miles (not to shabby) and I've added 20+ miles already in March. I'm going to take advantage of the better weather and get myself outside every day.

Also at the Color Factory: delicious macarons.
I went with coffee flavor and it was so good.

My other project for last month was GroceryFebruary, where I kept track of my grocery spending for the month. My total was $185.00, which seems actually quite low. Analyzing this number: 1) I eat virtually no meat 2) I didn't include snacks or lunches out and 3) I did a good resupply of basics at the end of January. I didn't intentionally try and save money -- any more than I regularly do -- but I was more thoughtful about what I bought. I planned to do a repeat in March, but I've already lost track of what I've spent. I'm thinking of tracking again in April and seeing what the difference will be.

Sadly, however, I have no report on decluttering, because aside from the usual recycling of newspapers I did very little decluttering. I did shred two bags worth of paper, but it was nothing close to all that I did in January. My minimum goal for March is to shred at least two bags of paper again and recycle a bag of books. Did anyone else work on decluttering last month or is doing it as a Lenten project?

Yesterday was seventy degrees and I wore a cotton jacket. Today we're back to winter and I'm in my down coat. It's not windy though and I've gotten my errands done and two miles of walking very comfortably. How has your day been?

As ever, thanks for visiting and take good care.

The macaroon sounds delicious. Our son wanted some macaroons for Christmas and he shared them with us. So yummy! I think you are doing really great on your goals. Good job on the walking and careful spending! I need to do more decluttering as well. I have made it a goal to take two older items out of my closet to donate for each new item I bring in. So far, I am doing pretty good with that. I hope your week is going well. See you again soon!

We're having your same weather here in Michigan -- light jacket, then downy coat! I like the idea of decluttering for Lent. Maybe I'll pick that up, though I usually don't "do" Lent as such. But this would work for me. I've actually been on a week long project to (don't laugh) declutter my sock and underwear cupboard. So far, I've filled three grocery bags with socks for donating, plus a bunch of bras. I draw the line at donating underwear. You'd think this wouldn't be a "project" but I had to try on the bras and make decisions about the socks. I am a sock fiend and collector but decided it was time to say goodbye. OK, so what's next? Books are the hard one!

Considering the winter weather, you did very well. Congratulations !

I enjoy reading about all your projects and adventures, but the "mileage" reports encourage me to keep going, although my goal is to get above a mile a day. Modest but it takes me so long to accomplish simple tasks of daily living that I feel triumphant on the rare times I get above 1.5 miles.

Blessings!

YIKES, that's a lot of walking, great job! I just grocery shopped yesterday for a lot of food to last a couple weeks. Sticker shock at the check-out! Enjoy your day dear friend, HUGS!

You are doing so great on your goals! For decluttering, we have a corner near the door with items ready to go to "Restore" which is the Habitat for Humanity's resale of donated items. People "receiving/buying" houses have to give volunteer hours and that is one place they can volunteer. Any profits go towards new homes. And the other bonus is for us who shop!
Our weather will be crazy cold tomorrow (Saturday) with some snow but then back to springtime in Tennessee.

Even though you admittedly have slacked off a bit on your decluttering, it has spurred me on, Carol. Every time, I walk around the apt I am on the lookout for things that are no longer in use, superfluous, or just not needed and just taking up space. So far, I have managed to fill a box of such items and have a few others that will need to be put in another box. And, once out of sight, they will also be out of mind. The treats looked good and glad to read that you succumbed to one!
