Pink Saturday Goes to the Cow Parade

Please meet some very attractive bovines of Cow Parade
This beauty was designed by Cynthia Erivo

On Friday I made my way to Hudson Yards, aka the Manhattan Pasture, of the Cow Parade. The Cow Parade is a display of life size fiberglass cows that have been put out to pasture in eight different places in New York City. There are two more sites in Manhattan and I hope to visit both before the end of the exhibition on September 30.

This bovine beauty is Cowzza

The Cow Parade began in 1999, and has been around the world, with visits to more than 34 countries. The last visit to New York City was in 2000. The cows of 2021 join the 6000 cows who have been "out to pasture" in the last twenty plus years. Starting on September 1, they will be auctioned for the non-profit group, G-d's Love We Deliver, which provides assistance to people with significant illness who are unable to shop and cook for themselves.

Please meet Seventeen Hundred Bags of Peanuts

This is Beyond, a very different take on the cows of Scotland

I've just spent some time looking at photos of all of the cows of the 2021 Cow Parade, and I missed some fabulous (PINK) cows at Hudson Yards. I'm going to plan a return to see all of the cows that are there, as well as a trip to Brooklyn to see Frida Kowlo

While I've written this Pink Saturday post I've been listening to AccuWeather and keeping up with Hurricane Ida. My prayers are with all of Buttercupland -- and all of Louisiana and the Gulf -- that live in the affected area. Take care and stay safe, my friends.

As ever, thanks for visiting and take care.

I've never seen a cow parade. Or these cows. They are interesting. Enjoy your day, hugs, Edna B.

WoW! 1999? I remember when that whole project started - seems just like yesterday. I had several friends who were invited to take part in it. I had no idea they were still being exhibited around. There were also copy cat exhibits featuring horses and pianos - that I know about, there might be others. The ones you have photos of are just terrific!

Poor Louisiana with the hurricanes - they can't catch a break with them, can they? At least New Orleans was saved this time!

Thanks for sharing. Have a great week!

Cows are something one would not expect to see in Manhattan. Thanks always for sharing the sights around your wonderful town of NYC. Very unusual and artistic too.

Love the cows! We've seen similar things around here and other places but the cows are just plain fun!

What a fun exhibit. Those cows are so colorful and creative. I'd love to be able to see it in person. We once had a display of horses around town, but they never went on tour.
Thanks for sharing.
