Pink Saturday: Preview of Coming Attractions

Selfie time at The Po in Washington, Connecticut

I've gotten a little stuck with "K," so in an effort to move past Blogger's Block, I'm going with a photograph for Pink Saturday. It was taken on a recent visit to one of the all-time prettiest towns anywhere, Washington, Connecticut. There, I made the discovery of a new eatery, The Po, which is a shortened form of Post Office, whose building it shares. I fell totally in love with the lunch counter. Alas, there was no eating inside during my visit, but a return to The Po and Washington is definitely on my travel list.

Has anyone started to put together a travel list for this year or even beyond? I've got a few places in mind and a few reservations made. My super long term dream trip, as of yet unscheduled, is New Zealand. I know friends who have made reservations, but I'm holding off until things are more stable. The one absolutely definite on my list is my fiftieth college reunion in May, 2022. It's not a far or exotic trip, but one that means so much to me.

It's a real sunny spring day and now that I've gotten a few indoor errands done -- laundry is sorted -- I'm off to drink coffee out of doors. What are plans around Buttercupland?

As ever, thanks for visiting and have a great rest of Sunday.

That pic really caught my eye! I love those types of places. I haven’t made plans to travel yet but I personally can’t wait to visit NYC again very soon!!

The lunch counter is awesome! Sort of modernized retro. And I like the Coke lamp too.

Hope that you will be able to sit at the retro lunch counter on a future visit, Carol. No long distance travel plans for us, just local getaways including one to Newport, RI, in Sept. i would also like to visit New Zealand and Australia as well.

The same trip you're anticipating means a lot to me, too, Buttercup. We're planning a trip to aa wedding near LA in August and to visit our son in ABQ during that same western excursion. Leery about the plane and the airport, but excited to see new scenery.

That is a really charming lunch counter. What was on the menu that tempted you?

This is an adorable eatery. So glad your day is mild and I hope you enjoyed your coffee outdoors.

I am not surprised to hear you writing about future trips. It is good to plan and fun to look forward to a vacation. However, you are correct in waiting to see how the coming months play out.

I love the soda counter. That's what they were in my day. As for travel, I don't have any plans. I'm happy to just make it out to my porch. You have a super day, hugs, Edna B.

Super Cute!
Haven't thought much about travel, though we
might go to Oklahoma and see Mr. Ken's sister
and family next month.

I have made it to "S" getting ready to do a "T" post.
I think I will get through April with most of the letters.

We have a marvelous old lunch counter diner here in New Haven - which is located inside a tiny building and has been in continuous operation since 1895. It is the official home of the original hamburger (recognized by the Library of Congress, no less 😂). Their menu is hysterical - Hamburgers, Potato Salad, Potato Chips, Pie. Period. They also state: We want you to experience the meat’s true flavor, so we serve it on white toast with only cheese, onion, and tomato as garnishes. They will serve ketchup on request ONLY. No mayo. No mustard. No steak sauce. LOL

Their lunch counter is a thing of beauty.

But not as posh as the one you shared!
