Q is for Queens

For "Q" we take the subway across the East River to Queens. To keep my blogger integrity, I need to add that I took the R train to Coffeed, but I did take the 7 train on my return to Manhattan.

This is the view from the subway station in Queens, with Manhattan in the far distance. I worked in Queens for eight years and this was one of the subway stops I used every day. When I first started working in Long Island City there were two places to buy coffee near the office. Sadly, neither were very good. Seven-Eleven opened after five years and Coffeed opened the year before I retired.

Coffeed was my answer to this question. I'd been waiting for good coffee for seven years and finally it had arrived.

Coffeed is a community-oriented coffee shop that roasts their own coffee and only uses coffee of single origin. It's a neighborhood meeting place and a very pleasant casual place to have good coffee.

I got the house brew of the day, which was from Burundi. This was the first time I'd encountered coffee from Burundi this month, but I have since found it at Gregory's as well. I varied from my usual order and had a cup of hot coffee. It was strong and flavorful and a solid B+. I'd thinking of a return visit to sample the dark roast from Sumatra.

The days are winding down for the A to Z Challenge and I've got the end of the alphabet to complete. There are going to be several days with two posts and even one book review. It's going to be a busy blogging week ahead. I'm adding this post to the fun at Pink Saturday. I've certainly had fun with my coffee adventures.

So much coffee and so little time! As ever, thanks for visiting and have a great week.

Sounds like a nice place! I remember back when there was a coffee shop or cafe in every town where everyone would converge and drink a cup or two before they headed off to where ever their day would take them.

I hope the AtoZ has been good to you!

Revisit the Tender Years with me during the #AtoZChallenge at Life & Faith in Caneyhead!

Coffeed sounds like the perfect place to sip a daily brew. I think a cup of the Tanzania blend might be interesting too. ENJOY.

You have me on the lookout for coffee in my tiny town. Surely there is more there than I thought. Yesterday I did see "Ethiopian coffee" advertised at the Little Cricket convenience/gas store. That's totally exotic for here! I really will have to try some this week.

Buttercup, I can imagine the wonderful smell of the coffee before you even enter the shop. I love to smell coffee brewing....it's way better than smelling too much perfume on some one...don't you agree.LOL. You sure know your way around New York. Blessings to you sweet lady, xoxo, Susie

Doing this A to Z challenge and continuing with others is quite a task. Drinking coffee keeps you going.

Gotta give you a standing 'O' for taking the R train and getting that in the A-Z! Works for me, but what to I know? I'm not writing any A-Z, just reading some. I'm a dark roast fan, so if you try the Sumatra, I will be curious about your opinion of it. Thanks for visiting my blog and reading about my walking tour. FYI: Next time you are in Reckerfeller Plaza and see the large scuplture of Prometheus, it was done by a Minnesota native, Paul Manship, a protege of the acrhitect whose work I was viewing on my walking tour. Thanks for sharing so many 'cuppas' with us.

You have the greatest posts here! Photos too! I am trying to stay away from caffeine for a while. I am too stressed over the days ahead so sipping Mint Lemon Verbena organic tea with lemon slices. I love hearing your coffee reviews. The 7-11 made a decent cup when I worked full time. They also carried really wonderful fresh sandwiches with sprouts and avocado. Gosh I miss those days! Always my pleasure to stop here and say hello. enjoy a great week. xo
