Beyond Strawberry Blonde Pink Saturday

I was riding the bus on Broadway the other day and what to my wondering eyes should appear...The perfect photo for Pink Saturday!

Pink hair!

My first thought was "Would I ever color my hair pink?" My second thought was "Perfect for Pink Saturday." But to return to my original question, would you ever color your hair pink? Taking the question a little further, would you color your hair pink or purple or green?

I do color my hair. I started out with light brown hair as a child, which quickly became dark brown hair. Somewhere twenty or thirty years ago I started to cover the gray and now it's brown, with blond highlights. In my mind I still have dark brown hair, but in this moment in reality that is long gone. I liked the pink hair look, but I don't think I would do that. I do think it might be fun and I might look for a spray that could be easily washed out if I was wildly unhappy with the look. What are your thoughts?

Two updates:

I'm putting off my trip news until tomorrow. I'm planning to go to the NY Times travel show tomorrow and I hope to have some photos to share on my post.

Pepe's Jedi training is not going well. He's monkeying around with the light sabre. Monkeys and light sabres do not mix. I'm hoping he will do better in the coming days or the light saber may have to be retired.

We've got more relatively mild January weather and I'm loving it. Lots of walking outdoors with no hat. I'm off in a little while for my study group and then dinner with a friend. A lovely Saturday.

As ever, thanks for visiting and take good care!

Buttercup, Remember you look great in pink lipstick...maybe some pink streaks would work. I too color my hair...but I think I could do some dark streaks, Maroon...not blue, green or brights. Blessings for a great weekend and fun filled week ahead. xoxo,Susie

At over 70, I'd look pretty ridiculous with pink hair. I like mine gray/white. No fuss. However, others might look great - I see young people with colored streaks and they look fine.

{{{Pepe, Pepe, Pepe}}} Sigh...I had high hopes. (giggling)

Carol, you should see the hair colors on campus--I just don't know anymore (more giggles). When my bf was in cosmetology school, I had hair color every color of rainbow and then some. Many Happy Saturdays to you.

I, too, color and highlight my hair. But I leave the pastel accents to my granddaughter. I understand hair chalk is the rage!

Smiles :)
When I first read this post, my hair guru had just finished applying highlights and propped me under the dryer.

I'm probably swimming against the tide of public opinion, but I think those colored streaks in young women's hair cheapens their look a bit.

I love pink hair and would love to go pink (pinkish blonde was also popular in the 30's, I've been told), but I haven't the courage. And, it's against company rules, which I find odd. It's okay to have a terrible dye job mixed with bald patches, but pink hair is a no-no. Hmm.

As to Pepe, perhaps he should go back and get his Sabre Learner's Permit and practice with a dim one until he becomes more disciplined.

I used to think it was just crazy all these colors for hair, but now I think its just fun. I do not see myself doing that but you never know....

I used to think I would never color my hair a "bold" color, but seeing some of the pretty pinks and turquoises I may have to reconsider {{smiles}} On the right person it looks pretty.

Hugs to you, my friend!

I'm thinking just the opposite of Barb...once I get past 70, I might throw all caution to the wind and do it!

My Godfather got married to a model back in the late 50's. A group of their women friends showed up with hair dyed to match their dresses. It was quite a sight. I had carrot red hair once, but only by accident.

I am one who was prematurely grey. At one point, someone thought I was the grandmother when I took my preschool children for a haircut!!! No more of that, I thought. So, I embarked on the journey of coloring my own hair. Ha! One effort/shade actually did give my hair a pink tint. When I opened the door for my sister, she thought it was the funniest thing she had ever seen! I've been completely grey for more years than I was not grey.:-) I wouldn't choose pink intentionally! At my age, it would appear rather foolish.:-)

I have known some that actually were strawberry blondes. Blonde hair with a tinge of red highlights. I have seen the kind that you pictured too. No I wouldn't want pink hair. I stopped coloring mine when I turned 50 and enjoy my somewhat silvery locks. Ha! Hope your weekend is a wonderful one !

Hi Carol, I would never go bold but it looks very attractive on the person sitting there.

You are so sweet! I love the topics you share here. I colored my hair today. Can't hide those gray sides I seem to have at m y age, lol! But I need to get a picture of my precious grandson Andrew's pretty wife Tarrah. We babysat the boys on Saturday and when she dropped them off I noticed her highlights which looked like a pretty rainbow in her dark hair! She is such a sweetheart and I love having her in our phamily. I am not sure I would go all pink or all blue or green. I know the younger kids do and their hair is very colorful! I love the photo you shared. HPS!
