Why I Keep Blogging

From time to time my non-blogging friends ask why I keep blogging. My answers are several. I like writing about books and this is my favorite platform. I like sharing my photos. I like the experiences I have as a result of blogging. Whether it's BlogHer or events I am invited to, my life is richer because of them. But lastly and most importantly, I really like the friends I've made through Buttercupland.

While I was recovering from bronchitis I received this lovely card and tea bag from my buddy, Missy. Though Missy isn't blogging now we've kept in touch and I was delighted by her thoughtfulness. The tea -- delicious -- made one evening of coughing much less difficult to withstand. On another evening I received an email from sweet Anne, who sent me a wonderful article about kohlrabi. Good reading and great recipes. Thanks to you both!

I am blessed to have wonderful friends in New York and around the country. But I can't imagine the last six years without my blog buddies all over the world. The deepest thanks to all of you! And a toast to those I've yet to meet. It all starts with just a comment.

This weekend will be spent with friends long-standing. I'm attending a reunion of my college class in Richmond, Virginia. In addition to touring and programs I'll spend time with friends from college days. But I will also have the opportunity to get to know women from my class I didn't know in college. It looks like a great weekend and you know there will be pictures.

As ever, thanks for visiting and hope you're having a terrific Thursday!

Glad to an opportunity to get to know you, through blogging.
So, I for one, am happy that you continue to blog.
Also, I imagine that I shall never see New York City, except through your eyes, and for that, I thank you.
Keep feeling better. Have a great trip and wonderful reunion too :)

Carol, you are just a real gem! Knowing you here had been nothing but delightful! You are one of those kind hearts and that is why I keep blogging. A friend of mine, who encouraged me to blog suffers from fibromyalgia and depression. I tell her often she would be wise to blog about her everyday life. She has two adorable grand kids and she and her husband have traveled extensively. She and her two siblings are helping their folks in their aging process as they are not in terrific health. Her life is very full and more people than she would think can relate to her. I have gone thru such a hassle with this Medicare business and the rejection all around everywhere is sad! Without a good phamily, friends and blogging friends I am not sure what I would do! I enjoy this so much! I just need to get all drafts done and blog daily which I enjoyed when I did my ancestry 31 days. It helped me get closer to a couple of my cousins I have not seen in years and when my cousin Sammy passed away suddenly I had all the wonderful little tidbits he shared with me . It is something no one can take away from you. Thank you for your friendship and your kind heart. Love knowing you and one day I think we will meet face to face! Hugs, Anne

I am glad you are blogging since that is how I came to know you. We have some of the same tastes in reading books, for one thing and I like hearing about your NYC adventures while I live in a small city in California. Blog friends like you are precious.

I sometimes wonder why I continue to blog, though I do take a bit of time away now and then. One thing I DO know - my life is enriched by following YOUR posts, Buttercup! Enjoy your week-end!

Blogging has enriched my life, too. I've made some dear friends over the last eight years, you included! I hope you have a fabulous time in Richmond. If you ever find yourself back this way let me know. I'm just a little over an hour from there since we moved.

Hi Carol! I'm a new friend following your blog :) This post has inspired me to keep at my own blogging even if it's sporadic. I'm looking forward to "getting to know you" (and I'm curious where you went to college --- we "share" the same city!) ... Hope you trip is full of blessings!

How nice that you have enjoyed so many blessings from blogging! Of course, the fact that you're a lovely person with a delightful blog probably has a lot to do with it.

I hope you had a lovely reunion weekend!
Your reasons for blogging are similar to mine. It's hard to help a nonblogger understand the pleasures of the connections across the miles.
